Anticipating preventive censorship - but maybe I'm wrong. Are you fine with new religious emotes?

  • Are you OK with holy emotes and costumes? 60

    1. Yes, there's nothing shameful in expressing one's faith in fictional game. (59) 98%
    2. No, it is offensive to Christian heritage of Europe. (1) 2%

Here's the video of new "holy" costumes and "blessing" emotes:

    (0:25)

I fear these will not reach Europe. Maybe even the costumes.

Many games, including MMOs have "priest" classes but not many that I know of use crossing themselves as a gesture.

Some games published in Asia, removed swastikas and crosses iconography for western adaptations.

I'm an atheist and I don't mind seeing cultural references in video games, even if I cringe at some breaking the immersion.

Seasonal costumes on MMO characters worn outside of season or super modern stuff in otherwise medieval themed game for example.

I would probably not like having hijabs, nikabs or even full burkas as a costume in any game, not because of the religious context but rather that I know in many countries these are used as tools of oppression, no matter how many "feminist Muslims" use it willingly.

So, "bow to Mecca" emote for Lilly would probably not pass. But are you fine with more spiritual side of Jin, Iris and the rest of Workers?

Personally I would love to see the whole unchanged bundle added at some point.

I know this is new content for Korea and before that we will get marching bands and stuff but the "priesty" costumes look great, the weapon skins are gorgeous.

What do you think? Let's discuss and please keep it civil :saint::thumbup:

    :/

  • Personally not a fan of costumes that cover the head/hair or face.

But to the main topic. I don't really care as long as it's not offending anyone. And even if it is offending everyone I still don't care.

On a side note I actually want a costume that's a cosplay of Nazi Germany's military clothes. They look pretty cool. I could see Iris pulling it off pretty well. Will that ever happen? Eh. Probably not.

  • DEUS VULT! WE WILL TAKE JERUSALEM!!!!!!!

The people of Cloudream need to repent. The Great Void is divine punishment.

If even a single person vote the 2nd option.... I will find you(which I will not be able to) and I will... do nothing because I really can't.

But you can at least know that I will despise you, even if you don't care what a random person on the internet thinks of you.

Basically I'm all for it. Who cares, people can be salty all they want. People get salty all the time for the tiniest of things anyway.

As long they don't have high blood pressure, being salty once in awhile should be fine.

And if they have Hijabs and whatnot, I still wouldn't mind. I don't believe in anything being inherently offensive. We as society give meaning and associate objects and symbols. Using it as a stylistic point IMO is perfectly fine. It's not like we are condoning whatever action that somehow is associated with the clothing.

So you can already probably guess what I think about the swastika and rising sun.

  • If you ask me, pretty much all cosmetics and looks in general are ridiculous in games. Did we come here to fight or show off our boo...dies and massive d- oversized weapons?
Apart from that, I'm not a fan of things that contradict themselves. I thought Lilly was a possessed maniac not a priest.
But as far as "offensive" goes?
what SaiNSuki said. Military clothes sound kinda cool too.

  • Why the heck should this be offensive? They are only praying and not drawing a religious symbol and cut it off.

But that idea of Nazi military clothes won’t work, cuz it’s plolitcally not right. It would look nice, but it has its meaning.

    Playing Main Chiihehehe!

    This my drawings of SoulWorker!

    Carry me pleaaase! :<

    More drawings here: onelove.draws, yey!

  • The way I see it there can be no doubt that this is taken from real-life history. Not 'unrelated' and whatnot.

Setting said history aside, praying, then going off casually talking about killing everything and doing so looks kind of ironic, doesn't it (though that sort of did happen lmao).

  • There are Priest-Outfits in other games published by GF so I doubt there's gonna be a problem with this one. I really don't see how any clear-headed person could take offense to that. Don't like it? Don't buy it!

  • Well some of us here are definitely not going to buy it but for other reasons iykwim. And think of how *clear-headed* and *intelligent* the average person is. Now remember that half of them aren't as *good* as that. but aren't we straying tiny bits from civil here

  • As if Holy themes weren't a thing already in games.. I am 99% sure there's not a single problem with this. Typical mmorpg (most of the time) comes with holy and devil themes, so someone who had an issue with it wouldn't even be playing these games.

    dddd

  • The Iris gesture is too controversial for the European gaming market. The truth is that there are games that break certain rules but are limited by the publisher. Perhaps it could somehow be overcome here

    @Edit Lilly* not Iris

I don't recall Lily as possessed. That's Stella. Lily is just a bit crazy... As for ridiculous... Maybe but not out of place. This is 15 years after our time at the least, so they have access to fashion through all of history and stuff we haven't even designed yet.

I have seen medieval games get bikini and weird stuff like that... That's anachronistic, but soulworker is immune to that.

How is it controversial? This is news to me actually. Really am curious.

  • Wtf? I don't know if I shoud laughing or crying while reading this here.

You really discuss about religious fashion and that it is not proper/controversial for the european market? So far as I know, Christianity is in europe the biggest religion and therefore I don't see any problems with this fashion. And come on, it's only a game. If you are this strict with fashion, than why didn't you complain about fashion we got before?

This whole discussion is ridiculous. We are playing a game that is full of themes about the good, the evil, angels, demons, gods. Silvery said it already. You can find stuff like that in almost every game. If you are finding this fashion offending, then don't buy it in the future.

    Over and out.

"This was all a cruel angel's thesis from the start..."

  • XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

The fact that no one speaks on the subject does not mean that he does not feel anything. It's only a game... hmmmm.... It is a pity that games go to a large group of people and do not necessarily like what is. If they have the courage to enter it, why did not they introduce something related to Islam?

  • I'm quite certain it stated somewhere in Korean that lilly is indeed possessed by that grim reaper thing. And even without that, if you just pay some attention to the intro or the story, you'll see that it's an understatement to say that "a bit crazy" is an understatement. Maybe, just maybe I thought up the possessed thing myself, but it certainly said that she's insane and that her civilised manner is just an act.

    Edits:

Regarding Haruru's "fashion" argument - I didn't mean it as "impossible design" or "did not exist at that time" or whatever. You can think up a million random (though not stated in the games) reasons for that. I mean more like, maybe you'd want something that, hell I don't know, actually protects you to some extent? or if you're against that, does not restrain movement? And yes I'm aware we do wear armour that is not just invisible, it somehow doesn't seem to physically exist but works lmao

And could we not start with the "just don't buy it" business? I don't think we need explanations for how that doesn't fix everything and how it just antagonizes those who don't share your opinion.
