Forum improvements/ideas

  • Hello, I'd like to propose some improvements of the forum features to make it a better experience for everyone.

    1) Unread threads (or threads with new replies) appear a little "bolder" on the thread list, however the difference between an unread and read thread is not noticable enough. It should be easier to distinguish between them. I have to really look hard to see the difference :/ Maybe also add an icon to show that a thread has new unread posts. Here is a picture to show the problem, the first thread has new replies, while the second one doesn't. The both look very similar and it's hard to notice the first one has its title written in bold.

    2) At the moment, you can hover your mouse over the "Forum" button at the top and then you can select to see "Unread Posts" to see the list of threads with new posts. There is one problem with this - it will show all threads from all languages. It would be nice to have this feature also for a selected language of your preference, for example if you only wanted to see unread posts from English part of the forum (and you're not interested in seeing all posts from other languages).

    3) Ability to disable notifications from certain languages. For example, if you only want to be shown notifications from English language and don't want to be shown number of new posts from other languages. The picture below descibes the problem.

If you have more ideas, feel free to post them here. Better to make one big thread rather than multiple smaller ones.

  • Thank you Ice for your suggestions (Btw, you can use the "suggestion" Label ;)).

We will improve some functionalities and the forum style in the future to fix some minor issues (like the mouse over or the unread threads you've mentioned). Thanks again!

  • I think those are pretty good ideas, the only thing I'm kinda confused about is the messaging feature.

So there's a Wall, Conversation, and Message; all three of which seem to be different. Someone sent me a message, which didn't show up as a notification and only showed up in my email - I had no way of checking or replying on the site or the email. The conversation seems to be entirely different, more of a private message?

I thought conversation was message, but I can't see the message I got through the email under conversations lol.

Wall is pretty obvious and easy to access, but I don't get the message thing still. Might also be a good idea to get conversation notification automatically turned on as well (it was off and I had to turn it on).

  • Forums are quite neat i feel nice bold basic and does the job well thank you but some nice suggestions there aswell better now than later on down the line :3

  • If you are on the main forum site, you can set the language boards you do not want to see to invisible.

You will not get notifications, nor do threads from those boards show up in the unread threads overview.

//edit: Quality you can turn of emails here. Just set 'Can send me Emails' to 'nobody'.

While messages will go directly to your email box with no means to reply, conversations are the Private Message function in this board.

Edited once, last by Kadmus ().

  • I wasn't really against receiving emails, I wanted to know why I didn't get the message as a notification. The original message I received didn't become a conversation, nor does it show up under it, so I'm assuming "message" is a separate feature from "conversation". Still hoping to get that figured out sometime.

  • A button where we click on it so;

unread post that we don't want to read disappear!

Yeaa, Pls don't hurt me D:

In the overview, you can double click the icon on the left of a thread to make the whole thread read.

Or you can click on the small symbol on top right of the board to mark a complete section as read. :)
