Issues With Controller Support Using Xbox 360 Controller

  • Hello All,

I am new to the community. I am so excited that this game is out. I will be playing a lot. However, I was glad to find out that the game has controller support but it is not fully working for the Xbox 360 controller. The only things that you can do with the controller is to run with the analog stick. I can attack with the X button. But that is about it. I have to use my keyboard in order to talk to the NPC's. I just wanted to let you guys know and is that a regular issue with it comes to playing with a controller.

  • Just tried to play with a Logitech controller (which uses the same input method as an Xbox controller) and this is what I noticed:

    L-Stick: OK
    R-Stick: X and Y axis are switched

    D-Pad: OK

    X: Swapped with Y

    Y: Swapped with X

    A: Swapped with B

    B: Swapped with A

    LB: Swapped with LT

    LT: Swapped with LB

    RB: Swapped with RT

    RT: Swapped with RB

    LS: OK

    RS: OK

    Back: OK

    Start: OK

Also, if you connect a controller AFTER the game has been started, you get the following:

    L-Stick: OK

    R-Stick: Non responsive

    D-Pad: OK

    X: Unconfirmed

    Y: Unconfirmed

    A: Unconfirmed

    B: Unconfirmed

    LB: Swapped with LT

LT: Swapped with R-Stick Y-axis Up

    RB: Swapped with RT

RT: Swapped with R-Stick Y-axis Down

    LS: Swapped with Back

    RS: Swapped with Start

    Back: Swapped with LB

    Start: Swapped with RB

Hope this helps out and the issue with X-Input controllers gets resolved soon.

  • I tried different controllers too but I still have the same problems. Well, I will have to play with the keyboard and mouse until they fix this. Also thank you for looking into this.

  • Controller support is completely screwed up to the point we can't play properly with one.

Game has some built-in bizarre mouse acceleration making mouse control a nightmare.

It's like they don't want people to even play the game.

  • I've been using a wireless xbox one controller with default keybinding since the start (I'm almost level cap)

The only issue i've had is that whenever my controller turns off i have to go back into options and enable controller use

i'm using it wirelessly so it turns off after a couple of minutes if left alone or out of power.

I'm surprised to hear there are xbox360 controller issues, i've been under the impression they give identical Xinput.

Edit: All the bindings can be customized, so maybe edit them accordingly to the defaults or your liking.

  • Just logged into the game a few moments ago to find that the setting for the controller have been completely wiped, causing all controller functions to well...not work! xD

Whats weirder still is that when you try to set your controller buttons up, it gives you a error message. (Least it did for me when I was trying to bind the most important function...movement..)

There might be a work around though.

Edit: Head into your Options and hit the "Reset Keybinds" button at the very bottom. This will reset ALL of your keybinds, but will restore your controller buttons back to the default. This should get your controller working again.

Not really sure if this will fix the Xbox Controller issue, but this should at least get some of us controller masters back into the fray. xD

Edit to my original post, it does indeed NOT save your Keybinds for your controller if you leave the game and come back, which means you'll have to redo any of your keybinds over again EVERYTIME you log out, which is frankly...annoying.

No they can't, at least not in-game.

And even if you manually rebind stuff out of game, some buttons just don't work at all.

Plus it's only 8 directional movement, so even if you were to put aside the issues and bizarre default binding for skill usage, the movement is incredibly stiff and imprecise.

Even though mouse acceleration is god awful, it's feeling like the lesser of the two problems here.

  • ^ Numerous buttons are locked behind a "you can't bind this" wall via the in-game remapping tool.

It also reads gamepad input incorrectly, and is showing (almost) every key as one off of what it actually is, at least in my case.

Like I keep saying, the gamepad support is partially broken, and I can only question as to when, or if, it'll get fixed.

  • Thank you for posting a screenshot of your hotkey settings. For some reason the game is recognizing my controller as a Playstation controller instead of an Xinput controller making my settings look like this:

That's probably why my controller scheme is all mixed up, though I don't know what's causing it or how to fix it.

Wish we could get a word in from the devs :(

Edit: Also, are you using the Gameforge launcher, or are you playing through Steam? Because I'm on Steam, and I'm thinking there might be a difference between the two clients that could be causing the issue.

  • I tried playing through Steam but it just kept crashing on me. I just play through the Gameforge launcher is there an issue with playing on Steam?
