my Thoughts and opinions on GFSW or soulworker as a whole

  • before i get started this is not meant in anyway shape or form to harass the community managers or the player base or even the developers themselves

    the good
    Localization: now this may seem like a bad thing but liongames could've said no and kept it in their own little area

    Characters: this sounds odd but I really enjoy the characters, unlike specific games there's some sort of deal with each of them, stella is the soulworker of sorrow, erwin is the soulworker of pleasure, lilly is the soulworker of madness ect, it fits with their weapons and or dialogue (if you ever read them)

    Gameplay: for some reason I find the gameplay to be unique, you're facing different sort of mobs in each area (EX: mannequins in rucco, robots in ruin, and a combination of banshai and souljunks in dipluce)

    Desireworker: OH BOY WHERE DO I BEGIN WITH THIS, desireworker is gotten at level 65 after completing a quest within grasscover camp, this brings more potential and introduces an optional skyclock palace strategy, you even get to fight along yorhaka during a specific portion of the quest, this also gives us the reason to do corrupted records as well (outside getting the drops and such), the outfit comes with a voice changer that is sadly required to be worn to hear it, post fix-up patch the colors get fixed and is actually very well-done.

    the game's soundtrack: oh boy a lot of good soundtrack in this game from the edgar theme to the near (blood) soulworker theme everything is perfectly done with the game's soundtrack studio EIM doesn't disappoint also nice touch for future content with remixes of specific soundtracks.

    The bad:
    fashion in the wheel (Gameforge soulworker only): we all do not like this, it's not right nor fair (although in the future it's direct purchase for a limited amount of time), especially when the wheel stays for a few days and then disappears.

    early game: this will sound odd but the early game is slow even with the XP increase of Main quests, the grind begins the moment you start doing end game stuff

    lack of rebalances (Gameforge soulworker only once again): Lilly and jin aren't really the best in our version, no offense to lilly and jin players but I think we all agree that we need rebalances soon

    Akasha or more importantly the limited akasha bundles/transmitter/cards: this will sound controversial but let me explain, you have transmitters that either give 1 to 5 star (inferior), 2 to 5 (normal, limited and hidden) or 3 to 5 (high quality), but then you divide each star with the pool they have, you're bound to get repeats of akashas you already have which can actually make it a pain to get what you want, now with the limited akasha transmitters, since with the release of specific cards you don't need to use the 6 exclusive limited akashas (if you're lucky to get one at all)

    escorting/NPC joining up within the main story: I hate this so much the NPCs are so weak like you're doing the game with level 1 gear, oh and let's not forget... if you let catherine die in the mission where you escort her, the main quest results in a failure and you have to take it again...
    inbetween

    the akasha of bundles: this will make no sense but..... I have a strange love/hate with these bundles, you're not guaranteed to get it, you just have a higher chance of getting the card that's apart of the bundle
    story: I personally enjoy the story, but most don't and it's understandable, but imo the story feels lazily done at some points, no offense to the voice actors/game writers, but in some of the character's story it's lacking (ex: haru in dipluce, Jin facing Naran in cold revenge)

    reusage of mobs: now this is controversial, but there's nothing wrong with reusing mobs/bosses, but some just don't fit the atmosphere of some locations.

    advancement: not really a fan of how quick this is but I can understand as to why it was implemented, unlike desire which feels rewarding to get (because you're waiting for 2 - 3 days depending on what you do), advancement is always doing rookie raids and a dungeon on a specific mode, it doesn't feel so rewarding because you're getting 2 new skills, 2 extensions, a passive (That can be either horrible or good depending on the character) and an outfit with a time limited weapon skin, I get that it's suppose to be quick and all that but imo it just doesn't feel so rewarding to do (note: the requirements for advancement is literally level 57 with scary cat radar's main quest completed, advancement can be done under an hour if you skip all dialogue).

    events: some of the events we're alright right some were great and some aren't but I kinda wish it wasn't like downgraded in our version.

  • Thank you for writing this, i think it is a good quick summary on how most of the community feels about the game^^

    Some things i would like to add:

    escorting/NPC joining up within the main story:
    --> There is Yorhaka in the Desirequest, and he will carry you, in that instance (if you are not well geared he will do 90% of the dmg o.O) first NPC that actually does something other then die^^

    Events:
    I HATE all the events, that make you play multiple characters for rewards, just increase the rewards you can get from 1 character and remove the option to use multiple characters^^, it feels bad needing to switch to your lvl 10 alt just do do 3 runs, because you need it for the eventrewards...
    As for Eventrewards:

    Make all Eventrewards untradeable --> example not red, but golden ECs, if brooches as rewards --> untradeable ones, thus removing the option to multiaccount on these (something which many people do) or just punish all these people more actively... It feels unfair to all players following ToS here...


    Story:
    Never read it much, but what i read seems fairly well executed, with some google translate level of errors. Chii's D... Tail anyone?


    Gameplay:
    In my opinion the only reason peoplle still play this game, it is simply put brilliant^^

    Wheel:
    Do i even have to say anything? Last 3 Fashionsets (expect Desire) were released in the wheel... (arua, Summer Beach, Street Chic), let's just pray the next few new fashion sets are not in the wheel of greed (no offence, but that is how it feels to many)...

    Akasha System:
    I kinda like the new akasha Boxes for specific Akashas, these actually feel worth it, and give you the option to obtain these specific akashas at a much better rate.
    However 1 Problems i have with them (neosanctum and however you will call the new ones for roska/Queen).
    1) make them avaible for f2p players, maybe let us craft them for multiple normal akasha Transmitters? or give them out in limited Quantity in Events.
    2) Go back to 1 Transmitter for all specific Rate-Up Akashas, so once we are done with the old ones/obtained the one we want, we can keep them for the next akasha release, and they don't feel useless/wasted. At the same time that would give f2p a way to farm for these^^

    Flexors:
    Way to rng right now... You need to hope for a good rarity AND for the right tag (and there is only 1 really good one...). So similar to brooches, but brooches are at least tradeable, so i can obtain them by earning dzenai and buying them, unlike Tags...
    whioch in their current state are: Pray to RNG, Pray some more, and don't forget to pry a bit more to RNG.... Just feels bad, not having a reasonable way to obtain what you want...

    As for Content...
    Well there is so much content we see overseas, but we will get 1-2 years later, if we are lucky it feels, expect, what earns money (Fashion)... Personally i would already be happy for our Version to be 6 Months behind the KR release, many games go even further and release updates worldwide at the same time...
    And Please no more, we want character XY early, and in the process breaking several characters and the games economy...

    Just keep to the kr relase order as you have lately, just pick up the pace please :D
    Noone wil complain if we get LF early 2021 or even in 2020^^
    Or make my dream come true and 1 bigboy patch with VS this year o.O, one can dream right?


    Rebalances:
    You know we need them, but please don't mess up the game for everyone to bring them early...

    Early Game:
    I disagree, expgain is acutally very fast right now, and you can get to the high 50s only doing mainquest. Once you run out you farm brilliant and get the best title, or level up quickly using the exp quest.

    And once you are 60 you should farm aov first anyway, since the levelups don't do much expect unlocking content/skills in this game...

    Again incomprehensible. Both users talk about the gameplay of the game (I don't know why they indicated only about monsters or simply call it unique). Gameplay review includes: 1 - Playability (control/different mechanics/target or non-target) 2 - Character selection and variety (character creation/character types)

    3 - System requirements and variety of settings... if you list this for a long time.

    I think to explain again that these comments can be compared with the voice of the child. Many complain that it is impossible to get certain cards... even buying special decks of cards in the store.

    I am satisfied with the speed of updates.... most often I bargain... I would more like to make price restrictions at the auction, no matter what the economy suffers...     In general, the company has problems, but they have several projects and need to not die. If you like the game, then a good player will find something to do in it. I wish the company success and will wait for new changes in the game.

  • Welp, may as well make a likes and dislikes of my own.

    Likes:

    Localisation.

    It's a good thing that we don't have to play on a literally google translated private server or using a translation patch if we want to play the game. (threea this isn't me advertising please leave me alone)


    Characters/Story

    If you actually bother to do side quests and read dialogue, you'll see that the story isn't that bad. There's a lot of good character interactions and development. For example, Corrupted Records, Advancement, Desireworker.....


    Gameplay

    Outside of it bugging out, each character having their own unique skills/moveset is fun. If you're still low level, i reccomend you making one of each character to see who you like most beating up monsters/robots. (also because of events lul)


    Music

    I just like good music. Dipluce and Grasscover have relaxing themes, Sunken Grave and Scaredy Cat Radar have an ominous feel which i really like, and things like Tumatuenga, Amaryllis, and Yorhaka's themes are good to listen to unless you're farming the damn pooch for the literal thousandth time.


    Ehhhh:
    Energy System.

    I mean i get why it's there, and the fact that you've done a LOT to make it harder to hit hardcap (free mat and vita-z a day, the energy costs being halved), there's still a limit on the amount of vita-z you can use a day unlike JPSW. (again, NOT ADVERTISING, JUST MAKING A POINT.)


    Translation Errors.

    I like the fact that the game is 100% translated (Originally the kill suzie 4 times XP quest wasn't), but there's still a few errors. For example, male pronouns being used rather than female ones for characters we know are female. It shouldn't be that hard to proofread, and if not just use "they" as the translation when it's clear that they don't know the gender of the character in mention yet.


    Bundle Akashas.

    I like them being here, but i think it'd be better if they were changed to be more like the Neosanctums of old.

    Have it so that the item itself is always the same, but the 5* akasha with rateup is different every month. Allows people to bank their cards after they've got the Rate Up Akasha they wanted to wait for the next. Which given the fact that Lupan was added in the Rate Up pool before in the standard one, would allow people to roll for Lakasha, (ok i don't know what you're going to call the Souldreg Queen card. Probably Souldreg Queen or Luna Nox.), Naomin, and even Kant when we eventually get them.


    Guilds.

    They're a nice thing to have, but i feel like they're underutilised. Maybe something like a Guild Hall would be nice to have, like a guild version of My Home.


    Dislikes:

    Lack of Primal Hero.

    Primal doesn't really have a reason to be here right now. Less than 20 people do it each day. Still, it's fun if you enjoy pain.

    Primal Hero gives people a reason to do it because Hero drops EC parts. It'd even make more people do Normal Primal so they can grind for the jewellry set.


    Lack of Second Daydream / Innocent Daydream Second

    I'm just putting this here because Desireworker released AFTER Second Daydream on KRSW. (Not advertising. And even if i am, this is one of the official servers here.)


    Lack of Rebalances

    I'm not talking about ones far in the future (Chii's second rebalance. Yes she has had 2. We got an already rebalanced version of her, Haru's second.... etc)
    More about Lily's and Erwin's.


    Earlygame.

    Honestly, it's really slow to start with. Especially if you're new/aren't putting your akashas and brooch set on the alt.


    Limited Akashas.

    Someone decides to buy enough Limited Akashas to get themselves a Hidden Catherine, and they can't use her because she doesn't stack with Arua. *insert sad whale noises here*.

    Jokes aside, the fact that some akashas are only in the limited akashas and the fact that the limited transmitter is currently 2*+ instead of 3*+ makes it not worth the money to get them. Especially since they honestly aren't even that good.


    Advancement and Desireworker.

    Yeah. I'm actually putting these in the dislikes.

    Ingame, there are 4 main *things* that increase the power of the soulworker.

    1: Beating Odento, unlocking Hysteria. Chii already gets this from the start.

    2: Beating Amaryllis, unlocking Supernova. Again, a story-based event.

    3: Talking to the Shadow Walker a third time, unlocking 2 new skills, 2 skill extensions, a passive (Which in Chii's case is awful before her second rebalance), and the ability to do an attack out of Supernova.

    4. Ahem. Beating the entirity of Corrupted Records, fighting Yorhaka on Normal, beating Hidden Hideout, fighting Yorhaka another 19+ times, doing a daily quest for him 3 times or 2 if you bother to do The Renegades and Holy Ground 30 times each on Manic EP4, and fighting Yorhaka up to another 18 times to obtain upgrade materials.

    ... One of these is not like the others.

    Honestly, i'd like it better if the Advancement and even the True Awakening (2) were quests that took a lot more effort to get. Something that takes more than an hour. Not 3 days though. Desireworker is far enough into the game for it to excuse such time.


    The Wheel of scam Fortune.

    I don't roll this and i don't really care for the people who do.

    Idk. Adding what the rough chance of getting the lower level Grutryoshka was a nice touch, maybe put percentages on how likely you are to get a certain item from it.


    Events.

    They can feel really low effort sometimes. Also only getting a single weapon or armor coupon can be frustrating.

    Since a lot of mid-level players can struggle with the game, why not make the option to always be able to craft Devourer's Equipment? (Primal.)
