The Stamina Issue (merged topics)

  • Fatigue actually... But Stamina/Energy/Power/Fatigue or whatever its called.. Same thing different name..

  • most games have fatigue/stamina systems, tbh.

    they're everywhere.

this isn't something Gameforge invented, it's a staple of KR grind-mos.

Elsword, Closers, i'm sure other big-names have them as well, even TERA has systems in place to limit your daily play, but there's always events for stamina potions, ect.

personally, i like stamina being reset daily , because it keeps you coming back instead of burning out content in a couple days. even if you buy items to restore stamina, you'll just be bored the next day because everything is already done.

  • If it's not a way to pump money out of people, I assume it has something to do with keeping ppl from getting to max lvl in 3 days?

Or keep people from dropping dead in cyber cafes? That seems to be a thing in some parts of the world...

    So what IS the purpose?

The first thing everybody thinks of when confronted with this system is: "Okay cool, they just want me to pay money, for me to make faster progress". Actually I think that's somehow true, of course they want to earn some money and if that's the system they're going for there's nothing to change about it. One has to decide wether he/she want's to keep on playing the game, with that system in mind. I'm okay with it since I don't get to play that much anyways because there's this magical thing called "school" or "work" for many people. I kinda agree on your assumption that they maybe want to pull the trigger before people drop dead in internet-cafés (or at home), especially considering where this game was originally published at. Therefore we also progress slower of course but I'm optimistic with this fact since that means I'm probably having way longer fun with the game aswell as have time to play some other games besides SoulWorker. ^^

  • Hell yes, couldn't have said it better than this ^^

  • Ive had my fair time in the CH beta and I believe only once to have my fatigue ran out.

the max unit increases aswell as far as I noticed, though despite all this I do not like it

  • well if it wasnt for triple limiting our Progression, the game itself has a relatively higher skillcap than for example kritika where you just facetank and kill or die, here ist more like dodge attack dodge kill dont die xD i like it very much this way, but the horribly slow Progression is somewhat of an hard Limit, i mean jeah reaching cap day 1 isnt useful for anybody, but honestly i dont want to Level for weeks, to reach endgame and take on raids and stuff. limited by slow Progression and energy when i got time to Play, aaand resources like ressurects as i see it is kinda not funny.

Energy System is fine in my opinion, but they abolutely should look at the xp gain, either by clears, quest or whatelse they might see. 2 evenings of playtime Level 12 is kinda meh, even counting out the downtimes. but still ist fun to play

  • I dont know what client youre using but mine only has one word for it. its "energy". v click spoiler v

Really? I've only ever seen this mechanic in mobile and browser based games-- which is the reason I personally don't play them. I get that companies need to make money somehow with f2p games, but why not introduce a subscription type that opens the cap? Seems like this is going to be an issue with a fraction of the player base otherwise.

this is a kr grind-mo just like closers and elsword and yes even tera has, as i said, systems in place to limit your daily activity, like dungeon entry limits. it's not so much making it p2w i think, but giving people incentive to come back every day.

(though if there's specific items in the cash shop to lower your stamina, that's pretty silly. mostly they're given out for events.)

i mean, what are you going to do once you burn yourself out in one day? leave because you're bored, most likely, and find another game and repeat the cycle.

it's becoming more popular as more games are translated and introduced to the western base, and they in turn complain about it, but really there's been stam systems for a while, just not in games over here.

(thats how it see it, anyway!)

It's weird. Playing on the JP version, I would play for hours doing heaps of dungeons, and never seemed to run out of FP.

The game also showered you with lots of free items. Crafting is also exacerbated - everything costs a lot more materials, but you run out of stam so quick you can't grind them anyway.

SoulWorker is a great game. So great in fact that we'd love to grind to max level! However, our progression is halted by the energy system. Once you use up all of your energy doing missions you either have to buy more (with currency that you currently, in the OBT, cannot buy more of) or wait until the next day for the energy to replenish. The energy system is literally preventing players from enjoying the game further than they already have. This petition is being made to spread awareness to get the attention of the developers at Lion Games showing them how much their players care about the game and how much we'd like to play more of it without being hindered.

  • Unfortunately, it won't be. Love the game or not, petition or none.

A lot of games have developed systems like this in Eastern regions due to the addiction issue that the region has shown to face over the years. Removing it in one region would be wild, and if one region didn't have it and the others did, then people would just play on those regions via VPNs and then this regions servers would, again, get overloaded and the playerbase in the other regions would die.

Feel free to add me, I'm relatively friendly.

  • Just out of curiosity, how fast do you guys chew through the energy you are given while playing intensively? I've only been able to play for a few hours at a time (computer + time restraints) and have barely chipped away at mine.

That's a good point and I understand WHY it's in the game but it's just a major disappointment. I really hope they can come up with a compromise that works for all regions.

I'm level 13 and I've used all of my energy. My clanmates are still able to play around level 14-15 but I used all my energy up backtracking to help my lower level clan mates.

It could spell the end of the game if more and more feel like it's a pain in the ass, closers had this issue but you get TONS of fatigue/energy
