To all the people that have similar problem! I have came to a CONCLUSION.
Key word - conclusion. This is not a fix as I don't think that is something that we as players can fix. Anyhow - this is what I think what is going on when game does not respond to what you are asking from it. I can't know for sure as I don't have access to "behind the scenes" of this game. But I hope this might help to some of you.
This is not first game that I have played in beta. I have played not only in Open Beta but Closed Beta as well - so I always write a problem or bug that I come across in as much detail as I can so developers have a little better insight on what is going on.
This is answer to my previous post where I had problems with joining server after my game didn't properly load tutorial hall.
Here is what I said in previous post:
Display MoreHello.
I downloaded SW like 1h ago. Made character, watched all cut-scenes and did tutorial. Then I was transported to L shaped hall without any npc's or anything. It said to me that I should go till the end of the hall. So I ran till the end of the hall till I got to huge doors blocking my path but they didn't open. Actually nothing happened at all. I couldn't skip tutorial, I couldn't exit game trough esc options. Pretty much none of the "buttons" worked. So I pressed ALT+F4 to close the game. Tried to get back on the game but it wouldn't let me join the server where I have my characters.
I checked that those ribbons mean, if the server is working or not. And I'm playing in NA server which has green ribbon right now. + it shows "normal" which means that there should be at least some people playing in it right now. I can join other servers that have white ribbon. Only thing I can do there is make a char as white ribbon servers are not working at the moment. And when I press back to chose different server to NA server where I made my chars then game bugs out and doesn't let me join any other server ether. As if no "buttons" work anymore when ever I try to join NA server.
By the way, I have Windows 10 64bit and I downloaded game trough Steam.
Okay, back to my conclusion:
I managed to join the game but even with skipping the cut scenes and rushing trough tutorial I still got dc'ed in like 10min of gameplay. Which got me thinking.. To my understanding, nothing you press is working because your game client can't connect to server. So when ever you press something that causes you to lose connection to server - game still tries to process what you asked of it which is the reason why nothing else you press works - as game is still trying to process the first thing you asked of it. That would explain why you can't join any other server after you tried to connect to your main char server. Also when you try to press in game buttons but they don't work as game can't process something that you asked of it before that. I don't know why game sometimes doesn't dc you when you are in game and get connection problems as this would mostly explain why some people can't join servers. But it is what it is.
So all we can do is wait for GameForge to do something about connection problems.
As far as joining servers go and other in game buttons - it might help to press on server or button once and try to wait. Game could get connection going again. But I am yet to test the limits of this. I just red some other posts where for some people game would stop responding to them but after a while it got back to them.
But as far as stages/tutorials that are not loaded properly like no npc's in stage/tutorial or something like that - well I think it's highly unlikely that game will randomly add everything in while you are loaded in stage/tutorial and already using it. Then again - that's something that should be tested. How ever there is limits to what we can test without knowing how game works/thinks. At this point it's like hunting for birds while blindfolded - just shooting at sky and hoping to stumble on something.. Because for all we know, game could be pretty much in odd offline mode. Where it would load stage but you would partly lose connection or lose it right before when game is done loading stage and transporting you to your next stage. Which would cancel it's "auto force close when connection is lost". That could explain those bugged stages/tutorial where you don't have npc's or interactive objects don't do anything as you might not be connected to server anymore.
How ever - I'd like to ask to GameForge:
I don't want to sound mean or something like that. I understand that you might have gotten more attention to this game than you might have expected or that this is not server based problem.
But I wanted to ask: Was there proper server stress test before this Open Beta?
Because lets be honest here - you are not new game publisher. I assume you know what you are doing. This is not first game that you are releasing. If it's not server based problem, then excuse me for asking this question. But it's just been on my mind now for a bit.
