2 maintenance yesterday and....

  • It's good that everyone wants to play, it's great that they want to spend their time here, but remember that the so-called Betas doesn't matter if they put "open" or "closed" (in the end that only indicates the number of "first" players that are allowed) they are done to test the performance and hardware and software limits of the server, repair errors in some of the millions of code lines that make up the game's programming or some of its files. Those who have been in BETAS of other games know very well that we stick to server crashes, emergency or special maintenance, disconnections, access errors and others bugs in general to the left and right; so all we can do is report it objectively with comments about what happened, what we were doing while it happened, etc.... and that managers have a starting point to review it and try to repair it.

It is unrealistic and illogical to ask for compensation for "not being able to play well""I have to go to work""I get out during a stage" etc....

those who cannot be satisfied with what is a BETA, may well return when the game and server has received all the necessary configurations and required to be "officially launched".

in sorts i agree to this, the thing that i don't like about the DC's is that they have been "fixed" twice now while it has gotten worse, i'm not asking for a reimbursement but i do find that they could at least communicate a little and actually fix things. maintenance that doesn't fix anything and only makes it worse will leave a bad impression in many player's mouths

  • I don't have to refute that, as a rule, if the players are not informed by the managers, it is more annoying than the disconnections themselves. : S

  • It's a beta and crying about the state with how the servers are is just being pathetic, its beta and these issues are normal. You're a hypocrite if you complain about how its Gameforges fault that there is unknown issues that they didnt know were there for the beginning.

Sure coming up with a discussion about the current stage with what the game has to offer and what not is a mayor factor in the games development, such as features that will be there by launch.
But complaining over ur not being able to play and that you should be compensated for these issues is wrong, and not alright.

I can give you that they should inform the players way more than what they are doing right now. considering that these are mayor issues that need to be addressed and shouldn't be kept away from the community when they appear.
But they should not nowhere compensate anyone or such of a kind. that's ridiculous.
And you should be grateful for it even being open to the public and not closed beta.

Honestly if people are going to go on and cry about how its unfair and that gameforge is a shit company just because they are having server issues then they should just close the beta of and filter out those people.

Unless ur able to come with Feedback in a proper manner you shouldn't do it from the beginning
They sure indeed should inform us about the issues so we know that they are being addressed.

  • They called this an Open Beta, and if we follow the accepted path of game readiness from Alpha, Closed, Stress, into Open, they believed the game was pretty much good for launch. The game itself is clearly in this Open Beta state, runs great, its fun and I believe most everything is working as intended.

Where they failed quite badly is in the state of readiness for their server setup. Given the issues we've seen, and are still seeing (for NA atleast), their setup was nowhere near ready for an Open Beta stage. This level of server performance is more in-line with Closed or Stress Test, and I believe a lot of the angst people are voicing here in the forums is simply over the use of "Open Beta".

If they had had a Stress Test Weekend, all the connection issues would have been found and people would have went into it with the clear expectation of having issues playing and also with the expectation that the issues would be corrected prior to the Open Beta. So I fault them for putting this out for people to play without a rigorous test of their server setup.

The real cause for concern is how Gameforge is going to handle their Cashgrab Shop. In the several hours I was able to play yesterday, I am very, very leery of what they charge for Inventory Slots, Energy Regen Items, and Safe Enchant items... I'm much more concerned about that than these temporary server issues.
