I've been trying to play with a couple friends but we couldn't do it unless we were on the same channel, so I tried to get to theirs but it said it was full... the problem is: the same message pops up when trying to switch to ANY channel on the EN server.

there's nothing wrong with it to be fixed, simply mean it's a populated server.
What you can do on the other hand is partying up with your friends, party leader stay online, while everyone else quit/relog.
Once you get back in, you will be in the same channel as the party leader.

I tried to keep relogging until I was in the same channel as my friend but it was taking too long :C (we weren't in a team tho, I though it kicked you out when you disconnected)
If you want to play with your friends make a group and give the lead to the one who is with more people in the same channel (if you're all scattered it doesn't matter). One at time go to select server and then reconnect, you should be in the same channel as your leader or at least with someone of your group.
Yesterday I did this in order to enter a dungeon with my friends (I was the only one in a different ch).
I don't know if it's something the devs had in mind or if it's a bug/glitch/whateveryouwanttocall but it worked for me and it may work for you
