My personal opinion is that if players request more daily resurrection items its a clear sign that mobs hit to hard. Also there is a clear difference between something being challenging and something being hard. Too high stats on mobs can make a game really frustrating to play. Do you think hitting a boss for over 30 minutes and losing right before it dies because it one shot you as you lost concentration after all this time is exiting?
Luckily we are not at this point yet, however we need to be careful it does not become too extrem.
I agree a challenging game is fun. However if we take such a game, as for example the souls series, it's a fair balance between game mechanic and mob stats. Einmies in this series rarely one shot you. One challenge there for example is to balance out the timing of attacks, dodging and healing.
In conclusion, I don't think slightly lower damage output of mobs would hurt how we experience the game. I think it would make it even better. I am mainly talking about one shots in general but especially in the lower levels. For example, it's not fun to get killed for missclicking because you are not used to the controls yet. In a good game there must be room for errors so the player can learn from his or her mistakes. This also goes for manic mode.
