SUDDEN IP-BLOCKS? (merged topics)

  • Wut? im from sea and I can access the game and store page just fine... o. o Unless yer from Indonesia I think....

Tho En masse had the block from the start to avoid confusion.

  • No doubt they are trying to trim the number of players to take some load off the servers, or that there might be some paperwork that is pushing them to remove support for certain regions.

IP blocks are nothing new and usually have good reasons for them. Either to keep people in their own region's publisher for licensing reasons, or to help control server population and limit it to the expected region's playerbase just as quick examples. Either this is temporary solution, or they intend to go through with this as a permanent block. If it's permanent, than I'm sure that this was done for Smilegate's benefit of SEA servers.

If its intended it should have been implemented in the 1st place...

If its temporary the should have made an announcement before hand.

I completely agree. IP Blocks should always be added before public access, and there should be a reason given. Simply blocking people out suddenly without a word said is a terrible move and will start to develop into communication and transparency issues.

I'd imagine the overloaded servers were the trigger for starting the IP blocking, but if it was already on the table to begin with...they should have told the community.

I'm not even a SEA player and I'm disappointed with how this is being handled.

  • Its probably a mistake or an accident, can you still download the game from the gameforge site? and are you still able to play if you download the game from there?

Also i heard that some SEA players still can play the game because they downloaded it before it happened, so i think its just an accident.

it is not accident, there's 2 type block ip on steam.

    1. Only Block the store page access.

It mean only block user ip region from access the game.

So player or steam user can access the game if he using proxy or gifted by someone have the game. Sample Tree of Savior, and Black Desert NA.

Im from Indonesia we have our closers with slows update and our Tree of Savior. Well as long you have the game you can access game especially ToS & BD NA. So thet only block ip store not the game. If you have the game you can access & play.

    2. Block Ip from Store & Game.

This one is completely cant do anything. In one condition, you can play with go to their region and buy the game. But probably you still have a chance to playing after go back to your country or you cant play it cause of ip.

  • I would have zero issues if the announced the game would only cater to the west at the start.

but the thought of, "you can play now and we'll just kick you out once the beta is over" is so annoying.

  • You realise that it is now only 8am for them over in europe right? They are probably just now getting around to seeing what is going on.

Thats not the problem tho, they should announce their action before hand specially when it affects their player base...

  • You are still assuming that it is an intentional action by them. Wait for them to give a response. If it was intentional then yes it is wrong, if its not intentional, so what? It can be fixed.

  • Someone in another thread for this issue even mentioned a post from their facebook stating they won't be in the office over the weekend...... so demanding a response during the weekend seems a little awkward. Just wait and find out what is going on when they actually answer or reply, there is no need to make more threads about the same issue.

But they implemented it during the last maintenance, they would need to contact steam too to block other countries, yet zero announcement at all before doing such action... Its not just SEA players that are being affected...

Also this is the 1st Ive seen a publisher that has 0 people on weekend shift... >_>

  • Is there a region block taking place or is the steam store down for everyone from all regions?

I know tons of people who play this game from my region and I think this game will die a fast death if there's a region block since it's already a niche game in NA alone.

Also I've tried to log in and all servers seem to be present except for NA. Is this the case only for me and people from my region or is the NA server really down right now?

There isn't any official statement anywhere about server status or IP block so if someone could answer that would be really great.

Whether or not any of this makes sense, spam making new threads about the issue isn't really going to help much. That usually just aggravates the issue, I am just mentioning what I have heard and that we should wait to see what happens.

  • Simple yes or no question, gameforge.

I couldn't register the game on your website, as it states the error above.

I can still play it on steam, but the store page is blocked now.

Please announce if you are allowing service to the world or not.

  • Does really everyone need their own thread about this topic? There must be like 10 threads about the same topic by now. Why not just wait until the publisher officially replies and states the facts? Since the weekend isn't necessarily part of normal working hours in Germany it might well be that a reply may take until Monday. I'm fairly certain we all can wait until then. I understand your concerns completely and I sympathize, but the nth thread about the topic won't speed anything up, I'm afraid :)

It is an important question for many players. An it is a very strange policy to have IP Block in EU and NA, while in Japan there is no IP block for any country.

P.S: This is also can be seen as a test to forum moderators to see how fast they will merge this topics together ;)

I sympathize, I really do and I get how this is an important question for some players. However...the only thing n threads about the same topic do is to annoy everyone else. It does most certainly NOT speed up the process of getting a reply. Therefore creating one thread after the other for the exact same topic is just simply pointless :)

Well this is the general discussion section of the game forum and if there isn't any official statement and people are getting blocked from the game then there isn't really anything else to discuss about the game isn't there?

Also I've noticed that with these kinds of publishers these games die pretty quick especially when the community insists on defending/condoning the publisher's negligence when it comes to issues like this, basically telling the people having issues to shut up because it's a F2P game anyways. I.e. Ragnarok 2/Tree of Savior/Closers Online. This game seems like it has the potential to live on for a while so it's better if threads related to current vital issues related to the game pop up instead of just dying down without getting any sort of attention towards the issue at all.

Who cares if people get annoyed? It's not like anyone is forcing you to stare at these threads the entire day. People are having issues and want those issues cleared up/resolved/fixed in some way and having the publishers come back to threads like this will make them realize how much of a shitshow leaving the game in this state for a whole weekend is.

If a mod comes in and merges these threads then at least that means that this has come to their attention.

What happens now will show the kind of service we will have from the publisher when the game is finally released and that's really important for some people who are deciding whether to play the game as a long-term MMO that they can dedicate their time and maybe money on or not. Shittons of people are just at the sidelines waiting for a decent F2P MMO that won't die within 2 months after release.

Sheesh, now we're even QAing moderators?

Good grief, this turns out to be turning into a fulltime job then :)

Jokes aside, yeah, those x threads should indeed be merged. I'm sure as soon as a mod comes around and sees it that's exactly what's going to happen :)
