SUDDEN IP-BLOCKS? (merged topics)

  • Do you honestly believe they will just ban Indonesia? No, I don't think so.

Indonesia is also a part of the SEA, that's why he wasn't able to find SW on steam anymore.

I never said they will ONLY ban Indonesia, i told him he can't connect most likely because they banned his country.

What is the point of this like?????

The point is you are speaking without having a proper understanding of what you are talking about.

Your exact words are that soul worker is banned in indonesia because it "does not meet the country's standards" which is wrong because there is a massive difference between a region-lock and a policy-induced game ban. For instance, there are games that are banned in China due to the fact that they go against "communist values". That's a country-based game ban.

In a different instance, a SEA publisher, let's say PlayPark for example bought the rights to publish Soul Worker in South East Asia. They could then pressure the NA publisher, Gameforge in this case to lock the game outside the regions they are licensed to operate in, in order for them to profit more from the players in their exclusive region. That's how region locks occur rather than being related to countries and their particular restrictions.

On another note I really hope they'd try to clarify whether people based outside NA will be IP blocked or not on the official release since I don't want to waste my time on the game if that is the case, which is a shame since it's quite an enjoyable MMO, which is an experience I've been craving for a while along with a whole lot of other people.

  • Yeah, and you don't know either if they region Banned SEA which is why i said most likely. "Most Likely"
Thats why i didnt go on about it being Region locked.

So there is neither wrong or right.

  • Tried to look for the game on steam using Indonesia's, Australia's, Singapore's IP and can't find it. Tried to look for the game again using Myanmar's, Malaysia's, China's, Vietnam's, IP and I can find it. seems like not all SEA region is blocked yet, or maybe they only allow some part of SEA region to have access to their server now

However, I find it annoying that they're starting to block regions now. It's like you're giving party invitation to everyone, but then only allow certain people to enter the party, and that's rude. If it's about smilegate that's claiming to run SEA server, isn't it way too late to do the blocking now? the news about smilegate going to run SW on SEA was from 2k16, so if GF gonna run SW, it's obvious that they'll gonna be in contact with smilegate too about what to do with this. Process like that isn't going to take just a day or two, it can be around a week or even for a month or more. so when GF opened the game, they should've already knew about if they should blocked SEA from their server or not but they didn't do that in the beginning, making us SEA believe that they're opened for not just specific regions but for SEA too. Yes, they do said that they might change things in this OBT and collect data, but what? did they allow other region to enter just because they're collecting the data? and when they got their data they kicked us out? if that's the case, they're being really rude

But, if it only temporary, I do hope they give us a heads up about what happened. I mean, what's so difficult about typing some simple command to build new announcement on their site? It can be done even when they're in vacation / days off, won't take more than half an hour. If they're too lazy to do that, just post on steam so people can read it and relay it to another who can't find it, won't take even 10 minutes. as simple as that

my statements above may be wrong since it's all coming from my own opinion and perspective, but this is what I believe as the right things

  • Its simple. This "Open Beta + Stress test" just showed who are the ones that "can" play the game and the ones that can't play the game. Its way more easy to just Ip Block the ones that can't play then fixing your shit. But again, we will continue to do the same bullshit we did with the japanese servers.
This whole thing just show that ENMasse should be the one taking care of Soul Workers. They a doing a good (kinda) work with Closers. At least better than this.

That's actually a surprise to me, I can't find it with Vietnam IP. None of my friends in Vietnam can.

  • I'm not totally sure I understand everything but isn't this just a steam thing? I used a Brazil IP and the main site is there, but steam just doesn't have it available.

I saw people mentioning that they can't access the main site, but there wasn't much said on that.

  • They blocked Brazil to, without any announcement just ridiculous.

A game blocking BRS might be the best thing I could ever hear imo, now just block china and we'll be set

They don't block brasil the game forge register still open but the steam page is blocked.

The problem is they dont make any anoucement, now a bunch of people cant join the game and the people ho played and now cant play any more.

  • Well there's people talking in different languages in the NA server.

    (Korean, Japanese, etc.)

It's probably why they're starting to IP block.

Ip blocking entire nations for talking another language in an MMO, Naice conclusion you got there m8.

If you're in an NA server you will speak english or leave, that's my opinion on it.

    Way to go StrawberryPunch

Now make a private server and play alone inside that server grinding for eternity

What does that have to do with not wanting people who say jajaja and have trash ping in my games? furthermore I won't play with them anyways so I don't need a private server for that.

  • Sorry, but I'm not mad. I actually want to know why two people can't use a different language to talk to each other on a american server. That's why i asked if they were talking to you, cause if they were I can understand your argument.
And again, I was able to join the servers. What I really want to know is what hell is this whole thing.
It is Steam's team mistake, GameForge's miskate or they actually can't even do a IpBlock right? Or is it going to have a IpBlock at all? Again, the lack of information is the big problem with the current staff taking care of this game.

  • The problem is they're talking in different languages in megas and most of the server(That is english speaking) can't understand them.

They have their own servers so why don't they stay out of NA?
