SUDDEN IP-BLOCKS? (merged topics)

  • This attitude of blocking IPs is suddenly very worrying.

I understand that the company just wants to ensure a good gaming experience for gamers, no lag, no bugs, no disconects.

But first and foremost, the player needs to be informed of what is happening with the game. We need to know if we will continue to play the game in the future for our countries or not, we need to know if our friends can join the game next week and join us already playing. We need to know if the Wipe will happen or not, or at least a prediction of it.

In the same way that the company is required to report any maintenance, it also needs to report these important issues as well.

You tell me when it will be maintained and I can not play for 3 hours (duration of maintenance) but it does not tell me if I can play the game next week or if I will be blocked.

Could some moderator or staff explain what's going on with the game? Where are we? What steps will the game take?

It does not matter to create a perfect and bug-free game with the feedback that the audience is giving and not having players in the future.

  • Hope this doesn't affect the existing players too heavily, e.g. blocking updates etc. Currently I'm still able to play, but still worried moving forward.

I'm anticipating their clarifications on this issue.

  • They blocked Brazil to, without any announcement just ridiculous.

A game blocking BRS might be the best thing I could ever hear imo, now just block china and we'll be set

Should've realized gameforge will make this game exclusive to selfish people like you

How is expecting someone to speak English on an NA server selfish?

  • Afaik there is another Publisher for SoulWorker in the SEA region so Gameforge might be contractually obliged to block players from the SEA region. The only thing you can be slightly mad about, imo, is that it wasn't communicated but it was clear from the start that their servers were only for NA and EU.

Regarding NA and English: considering how many people in NA speak Spanish (40 million people in the US) and French (roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of Canada), and considering that it says "NA" and not English North America, you will have to deal with some foreign languages, I guess.

And you're not alone with having foreign languages on your server ^^ On the German server you can find anything from various Asian languages, to Russian and most other European languages.

But, as some other people already wrote, you won't get an official answer on this until Monday.

If you think someone talking a different language is enough to put a IpBlock then yeah, it is selfish. Besides, putting a IpBlock when the game didn't have one on the beginning will not resolve the "problem of people talking different languages" or any other problem. It will only get worse.

Who's the publisher for SEA? I might be outdated that i haven't heard about SEA getting their own server.

Sorry but I'm going to clear this.
Looking from outside while you don't understand the language you can think "Nah it's fine, it's just the words". But it's not.
Take Vietnamese as an example here. Some people actually used bad words on mega. And public chatting as well. We who can understand the language are annoyed by those words. As far as I know, some players from other regions were actually annoyed by it as well.

What makes it worse is the fact that they used mega for pointless purpose: Once the game is officially released, imagine your mega selling something being dragged up for NO REASON AT ALL. Now THAT is a problem.

Among the community, we don't use Vietnamese for public chatting, nor that we do use it for mega. We either use English or just shut up and let somebody translate all the stuff we need. Sadly, part of the community is just pure trash- they like spamming bad words in Vietnamese in public as if it helps them prove something, and we can't do anything about it.

As much as we hate it, we need to admit, we'd rather see our country's IP getting blocked than let the player base have a bad look on us- this actually IS happening right now among the Elsword community, many of them hate us because of the pointless mega spamming (and the lag as well).

So yeah, "speaking other language" might be a reason that leads to IP block.

(Tbh, if the community is annoyed by this, I personally will suggest the dev to block our IP as well.)

Idk how to merge comment so sorry but double posting.
It's Smilegate. However the news was from 2 years ago and I'm afraid SEA server is not coming anytime soon.

  • Certainly not the reason for the ip block. I can assure you that 100%. It might be their marketing team just realized they just want to focus on NA and EU markets and their player base while shutting down ROW.

  • What MMO has blocked a region because they refuse to speak English? I've only seen people banned for trying to spam the global chat with insults directed at other people or hate speech.

    Leet
The company is called Smilegate. There's this facebook post about it:

(Found it in the steam forum)

They confirmed it 2 years ago but my friend believes the SEA version will be after the NA/EU version. Do you have any other information regarding the group? I heard they almost went bankrupt :/

  • Put up a "Block system", like ANY OTHER GAME, and block the people who keep abusing the megaphone channel. And if you know what they are saying then take screenshot and ask for the staff to remove then from the game. But I guess I'm asking to much, right?
Yeah, let's just IpBlock (wich it can be easily bypass with a simple vpn) a entire country because of two-three as***** that we can't keep banned because they keep creating new accounts.
This just shows how good the staff is when handling a problem.

  • They definitely didn't block certain regions because players from there spoke the wrong language/insulted other players, the idea is just ridiculous, how are you even considering this <.<
Gameforge is a company, companies want to make profit, so why should they ban countries or regions without having a very good reason. Blocking these regions means fewer players, fewer players means less money for them.

And no, I don't have any other news about a SEA server, sorry :( But as long as this company has the license for the SEA region, Gameforge probably can't do a lot about it

No no, I'm not saying Gameforge actually did it, I'm just saying it's a possible reason.
Yes, just some ppl spamming is normal, but if they keep doing that and the community are annoyed enough, combined with the delay we already have while playing NA yeah I'd say some developers might consider blocking the entire country.

For now I just hope this blocking is just a techincal problem and is not permanent.

  • The biggest problem here is the lack of information. With the possibility of the game not having a wype in the end of the "beta test" makes people wanted to play the game, but now with this pseudo IpBlock (or whatever you wanna call this whole situation), I don't know if it is worth it to waste time in the game if my country will actually receive a IpBlock (wich it isn't unusual since my whole fuc**** game community is full of trolls. Fuck you Brazil) even if I can join the server right now.

  • Nirakan  Hatshuharu Thanks. Lol weird that it was announced 2016 and there's still no latest news regarding SEA server. Looks like we'll be waiting for quite a time if GF decides to restrict SEA players for this supposedly SEA server.

If that was the case the block should have been implemented right at the start. not several days later, and why the SEA players are still able to play the game...

    This isnt GF's 1st MMO...

  • Can the players who were blocked and other regions who are having issues connecting at the moment still connect to the game via the Gameforge Soulworker Launcher?

Is it just the Steam version, or is it both versions that these regions are having issues connecting to the servers and various Soulworker services?
