You cannot compare this to other games because you have absolutely no idea of the legal situation, the contracts regarding all these cases.
Being pissed off at Gameforge is absolutely unjustified because they're only blocking you because they've been told to do it.

You wanna play ? Just use a VPN = done.
You don't wanna bother with VPN and such ? Go JP , there is plenty of website , video , guide to play there.
You don't care about that and you just wanna QQ and cry like a baby ? Well , have fun but we " no ip-blocked players " gonna enjoy our stay here 
If they knew that other company has the right licenses for south america, asia, sea.. etc etc. Then it should've launched from the BEGINING with IP BLOCK.

Maybe that might have been wiser. I don't know. I don't make such decisions and I also don't know the contracts, license agreements and legal situations involved, so I can't really say. Only thing I DO know is that usually publishers don't block out users before it becomes necessary.
In any case...while I understand the anger and disappointment, it's just in everyone's interest to keep calm and mind our words. Fights between those who complain and those who repeatedly keep stating the facts won't get us anywhere. Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

The most ppl here are not mad cuz the ip block, are mad cuz gameforge realease the game to everybody to do the download and play the game, and without informing nobody he just ip block non NA/EU players thats bs for who waited years to play this damn game.So rip It was already hard to find Party to do the dungeons before, now will gonna be impossible.

Well is steam is global, when community pissed off so much people angry is couldn't be help, relax youre doing fine, but steam user is too much for moderator too handle. You just only can tell them.
You do know they also deleted Accounts related to IP Sea users on Steam.

Gameforge - as of now - doesn't have the right to publish in any other region than EU and NA.

The english patch is a cancelled project, only work on UI. You get nothing out of story.
Not every one can speak japanese -> language barrier.
English speaking people already started new on Gameforge's servers.
You can't just sit down and start conversation with everyone like in NA/EN servers.
The community got reduced due to Steam release too.
So middle finger to whoever want to implement IP Block in the first place.

Unless you go for PvP, 200-300 ping is still playable in SW , PvE wise. It's just a minor thing to get on JP/KR.
Still I don't get it. JP and KR can open their server to the West like NA but NA can't do the same?
I don't believe there has been any official message on this yet... Can anyone give clarification as the site and steam seem to show it; maybe an official notice as opposed to 182328 rage posts.

That should be in an announcements area or zone where people can easily find it to prevent massive text walls of rage. Posting one note in a 11 page thread minimizes it actually ever being seen by anyone who would actually need to see it.
Man that's pretty sad as an SEA player, especially because I lose all my progress. Welp, we can't do anything about it

That should be clearly noted in the title. Keep in mind; I live in America and can read English. I have worked as a CM and a GM for games and websites before; players and community members will not search 13 pages for an answer; neither will they look through every thread for their answer. An announcement such as "Notice about IP Blocked Regions" would get their attention and could prevent 13 pages of rage.
Well kind sad that publisher have this behavior of such great mmo but i still gonna play, just remind rage at the forum wont help.
