SUDDEN IP-BLOCKS? (merged topics)

  • agreed i think Gameforge should force the rights. SmileGate taking their damn ##$#$@^ time releasing their SEA version.

Hey, I'm Tiger. Nice to meet you. In game my character is MatoKuroi

  • Smilegate asked them so they were contractually forced to comply. Earlier they were able to play but later Smilegate said no. Does that answer your skepticism?

  • I never saw any post of GF that said SEA/OCEA/LATAM is part of their service area.

This is a beta meaning not everything is ready yet. That might as well include IP Blocks. There is no responsibility to take here. You guys just have to accept the harsh reality . Life isn't fair. If you think they broke some laws, go and find a lawyer.

Seriously those threads are getting extremely annoying. It's sad and all that but bad-mouth GF because of that is just simply childish and refusing to accept reality.

And just so you know, there are other games were player actually wish for a IP Block of said areas and GF does not do it. That makes those accusation even more ridiculous.

  • idk this the real reason or just excuse. if smilegate forced that i think we need think again, they didnt launch this SW yes why they need to do that? this just make smilegate reputation more bad and make many hatter for this and soon or later when they launch SEA/OCEA/LATAM SW already many ppl didnt want play this coz hate about this agreement (if this reason is vaild coz Smilegate asked them for this (because dont have any proof for that)). this still misterious or hidden reason for this.

  • hello brother, if u say this Beta yes this Beta but this Open Beta not Alpha or Closed Beta. And they no wipe and @ this stage the preperation for official launch is almost done.

and i think no bad-mouth coz me and another ppl in this THREAD didnt insult or use bad word for that.

we just asking and want the correct answer for this.

sure ik, i play mmorpg game since 2006 and ik. even they do ip block but they do that since first time launcing AT/CBT or OBT. already block all any acces for that game even the website since first.

  • It's the real reason. They own those regions so they can say not to publish in those regions. It's simple and not difficult to understand without strings attached.

  • sure if this this the real reason. btw have good day for u, happy n fun play ur SW games. and ty for ur nice companion with this chat.

  • gamers be caught in Greedy Company Money Wars. Seriously. Why is SmileGate not Waiving theirs for the game and get their money back for paying for the rights. At this rate we SEA/OCE wont be playing their version of the game and their version will fall terribly to the ground.

  • [all is personal opinion!!!]

i think gameforge can solve this if it buy the right for more countries but well it wont be for free Ofcourse xD

and that if the game owner agreed with that

what i did understand from there posts

    Quote

we may be required to block other regions at the request of another publisher or the game's developer.

    =

    Code
    1. we got request to block some countries , we can't do anything about it we have to do it
    2. if the game work for you be happy and don't tell us xD
    3. but don't be surprised if you lost access to the game later

this what i did understand from this xD (witch i may be wrong!)

i think if gameforge can tell you guys if they can buy the right for SEA or not

if they can that if a lot of players from SEA want to join the game i think they will open it as soon as they can

  • yea brother, sure they can and what u say is 1 of any of tht solution.

coz many of us SEA & OCEA wanting so bad playing this english version SW bcoz didnt have another publisher launching this game in our region yet till now.

and i like what u say and agree with that.

and for another ppl dont like or disagree with this thread plz didnt think we bad-mouth coz we not and dont want also.

we just want the detail because we already can play this ersion before for couple week and already like it play this.

and i think this what FORUM for if im not wrong...

  • I don't know much about how region contracts work but I think they'd probably need to have a long process to get SEA under their own rights, just sounds like a huge legal mumbo jumbo.

  • i think that not really. what we want just we can access play this english version from our region SEA and OCEA(personaly i dont want using any 3nd programs for access coz dont want waste my money and get banned after) even with not SEA/OCEA server. just the access we can play normaly like before plyaing @ EN or another server already in there and we already thanks & happy for that.

  • To be honest I think everyone has Valid points on Both sides, but Truly For people in the Region blocked Areas Giving us some heads up would have been Nice or atleast Give us some more Details as to why this occurred, or For gods sake if your under contract to not tell us why... its just going to hurt your Image not the other Companies Just your own.....

after all this anyway Im Done with the Game, I Don't have means to play anymore and if Smilegate releases one in OCE/SEA areas I ain't gonna play, Some poeople might still but I won't be.

  • I don't know how often I have explain that. Licences work like this:

    • GF: "Can we have the the licences for EU and NA for that price?"
    • Lion Games: "Sure here"
    • GF: "Can we have it for SEA/OCEA/LATAM as well?" (if they even asked)
    • Lion Games: "No, somebody else already got it."

So what is there not do understand? There is nothing more to it, no need to over complicate things.

Also a beta means that the developer, in this case publisher, is allowed to do breaking changes without any compensation. That's exactly why using software in beta state is not recommend in larger software projects. Alpha means it's probably full of bugs, use at your own risk.

Mate I Understand what your saying But where Did they Personally Say it was Because Lion games told them they can't allow us or that Smilegate(or whoever) Said they have to block the Region.... I just want them to personally say it even though I can Understand that is the Reason. you might think its unreasonable but that is Just what I want to hear.... them Say it Clearly and exactly how it is.

We had to change this week our stance on IP restrictions due to licensing issues. We understand that some players are disappointed but as a game publisher, we may be required to block other regions at the request of another publisher or the game's developer. We are contractually obliged to do so.

    Information regarding region block

    It says exactly that.

  • Like the title says.

Was able to play yesterday without any problem, since today, the whole south american continent was IP blocked.

This is specially unusual because most of the time, games for NA/EU region include south america, with the exception of brazil which most of the time gets it's own version.

The online game market is pretty much non-existent in south america so it's highly unlikely it will be licensed by any company.

    Quite the unnecessary IP block.
