Poll - Changing the Fatigue System

  • Technically speaking (from a programmer standpoint), any programmers that are worth their salt in gameforge should have absolutely no problem tweaking the fatigue system however they want it to be without breaking (without causing bugs or glitches) without too much of a problem, even if they want to turn it into a "rested experience" kind of thing. I have already seen a private server manage to allow players to get into a dungeon without sufficient energy, but they will just have penalized rewards. Honestly? The laziest way a programmer can go about getting rid of the fatigue system (tho definitely not the best way they should've done it) is just change the fatigue cap to something obscene like 99999 so that the player will never run out, tweak the UI so that the fatigue bar doesn't show. But there is likely an easier way to get rid of the fatigue bar entirely than "tricking" the players like that. But the point is, it shouldn't be hard. If it is hard, then Lion Games have quite some crappy programmers and it wouldnt be GameForge's fault, but i highly doubt that's the case.

The only few reasons I can see GameForge cannot change the fatigue system is:

    1. It causes GameForge to violate the license rights with Lion Games

    2. GameForge failed to negotiate with Lion Games on changing the fatigue system to suit their own needs for the western market.

However, there are much more reasons that GameForge may not want to change the fatigue system:

    1. Lowers their revenue, because no one will have to buy energy pots anymore

    2. Boosters prolly won't sell so well anymore since players can just grind

    3. Respawners prolly won't sell so well anymore since player can just retry the dungeon without worrying about losing 50% precious EP

But to make my stance clear, I'd like the fatigue system removed, or better yet, make fatigue system a bonus to drop rates/money/exp gained, and without fatigue player get half as much as the regular rates. This should still reward the players who play multiple characters (since they do have separate EP) but does not turn off the players who just want to grind one single character, who knows this might even make some players who originally play 1 character only to play multiple ones.

That being said, my above post does not address any potential unforseen consequences coming from the design point of view, but technically speaking I am pretty sure GameForge can easily pull it off without too much trouble if they are allowed to.

And I definitely won't rule out the possibility of something else coming to replace the fatigue system. But still I would much rather grind more and have fatigue out of the way.

  • I can't say anything about the staff at Gameforge, but if it works like the typical mass game publishing companies I know, they won't have programmers to fix things.

What they do is bundle the issues up then send it back to the developers to resolve and send it back.

Now, the horrible thing about this is that because upper management looks for a high bottom line, they have multiple publishers, but still only 1 dev team. So you have hundreds of tickets filed towards them waiting to be resolved, while also needing to create new content.

And GameForge is likely unable to change the client of their own accord even if they had programmers because of licensing. They would have to send a formal request(that even if accepted) would take the dev team probably a week to get around to.

Well, it wouldn't be an issue if the higher ups at GameForge hadn't requested the game like this to begin with, but I digress

  • - Removing the fatigue system completely will surely complicate the patching process but there is a way to go around it. You can let the pots and mats stay in the premium shop for 0 gold like until now (with or without a limit is another story entirely). If they can overprice a haircut, they can lower its price too. There is no more work involved in such task. The important things here is not the EP system itself but that they are trying to give "whales" overwhelming advantages over other players.

    - I really like the ideas of having energy potion dropping from mobs too. (but that just bring us back to above mentioned problem)

    - their revenue will be lowered anyway if the player base is low. I am convinced that the player base will drop if current pay to progress options persist.

    - Design some new outfits and add it to the shop if they want to raise the revenue. (a joke that s not well received. Im sorry Q.Q)

Ideas can be collected from competitions, which can be used to promote the game further too. There are just so many options to raise their avenue if they actually start to communicate with their player properly. They don't need to go full desperation mode at the start already.

    - The current drop chance feels (for me at least) much higher than in other versions. So they can lower it and make booster more available. Grindy with an option to speed up the process is still better than not be able to play at all.

    - if it s all about that the higher up in the financial and marketing department making decisions then we are screwed. They already did a horrible job advertising the game but they may show us they can do even better things such as destroying a game.

Boobs was once Ass but without Boobs there would be no justice.

Does it make sense to you ?

HELL NAW - NOT TO ME EITHER. THAT S WHY I LIKE IT !!!!

  • Fact: energy system limits your ability to play the game

    /thread

*points to how raids are non-energy dependent and how you basically never touch energy again at max level*

Of course,he is talking about mid game or near end-game players, where energy can drop after 4 complete runs on manic

I am the handle of my gun

Speed is my body and bullet is my blood

I have created over a thousand guns

Unknown to Myriam, nor known to Lex

I have withstood pain to create many relationships

Yet,those hands will never hold anything

    So as I pray

    Unlimited gun works!

  • stamina system is trash we've been over this this is an MMO not a mobile game this game is gonna die anyways games like these are only side games for people playing other things i would seriously laugh if someone said they take SW very seriously in the MMO genre for them

My previous statement about WoW wasn't necessarily saying that WoW is inherently superior, but that it's ironic how much public view of similar systems is distorted by the name.

This is one article on the topic.

  • Am i the onliest one who didnt understod why those money hungry %!%@ %@#%@ made the 200+ energy vip feature, so they can get more money ?? Now i cant play with low lvl friends and guild mates cuz i wont have enough energy to play myself on relevant content, and it ends in 2 hours even if you use the consumables you wont get even close to 5 hours of playtyme a day, so we are getting punished for playing?? unless we pay them ...??

  • Mmm it really is hard to say. I voted 50% reduction permanently, only because it feels like I dont run out even after a full days grind. At the same time however removing it entirely would just put it on par with other MMO's
remember MMO's are games that require a lot of time and dedication put into them, having a fatigue system is purely there to make people spend more time on one character which I honestly think is wrong.
The fatigue system feels like it's only there to punish dedicated long term players. People who have spare time a choose to spend said spare time on this game are being told that they can't play for long because of the fatigue system.
