hate to be that guy, BUT

  • i hate to be that guy, ok no i dont but this game is already pay to win on release at this rate. with this dreaded Ep system that serves no purpose except to strong arm players into buying consumables to replenish EP. costumes well lets not even go there. so far ive seen people who utilize the 100 EP pots or the dread selling of spots. more EP more runs more runs more loot.

TLDR: another EP makes the game pay to win

I tried def need me a signature

  • I haven't paid a cent and I'm a top player, what

Edit: I have now payed some cents for cosmetics only, and I can confirm I'm better at the game now.

  • I think we have a different understanding of the term "Pay to win". Granted, people who pay for EP get stuff faster, but it's not like that stuff isn't available to free players. So.. even free players can win. It just costs more time, and you know what they say: "Time is money."

  • Stamina systems by themselves don't make a game P2W. What GF does from here with EP pots will determine if it contributes to that atmosphere forming over SW though.

Btw, the origin of EP and stamina systems comes from Korean laws limiting online gaming time and usually carries over to satellite servers for most KR-based MMOs. EP/Stamina pots are designed to circumvent those rules, just like how Gacha systems are a loophole for anti-gambling regulations.

This game is not p2w, you act like people can gain infinite EP from mats when there's a limit. Not to mention the time it takes is worth more than the money to be able to gain a considerable amount. "If" they do add these to the cash shop then they "will" be limited in some way.

TLDR: If you played the game for more than 10 minutes you would know.

  • I dunno if pay to win is the correct term. I do agree that this game is already showing signs that people who dumb money into it will of course reap a benefit as is their right cus now that are a paying customer. I think the more correct term is pay for speed of progression. As yes people who fork over money will advance at a much faster rate. I have seen some games where this really isnt much of an issue and others where it can make or break the game. As for this game and from what ive been able to deduce thru research its very limited amount of content. Paying to speed up your progress is really only gonna burn out or make the person who spends money lose interest even faster.

I for one have not seen much issue from this energy system as it will keep me playing the game longer and more interested. As what the energy system really does is gates progression speed. I really think its rather quite perfect as it is for its going rate. Between your leveling and your Steel runs. It really has a perfect balance for the casual player to semi hardcore player who is gonna play for roughly a few hours to make 6 hours in the given day.

  • you can essentially gain 300 more energy a day from cash shop potions. then add on what a mat can give you for a hour or two spent on them and your daily 200 thats rather a lot of energy. They arent exactly wrong. I think they are just generalizing pay to win as meaning a free player will be at a disadvantage which he is not wrong.

Such is the problem with this FTP games there have to be some hitches to keep the game running and making money... and those that spend the money will more than likely profit better than a free player.

  • Mats are accessible to everyone you know that right? F2p players could just leech off their friends.

  • Stamina systems by themselves don't make a game P2W. What GF does from here with EP pots will determine if it contributes to that atmosphere forming over SW though.

lol im at over 42hours in na server so uhh way more than 10 min and 42 is just on one toon

I tried def need me a signature

  • also it comes down to who has time to afk for mats AFKWORKER online

I tried def need me a signature

  • With me on the verge of 55 i don't think it's p2w i can completely agree with Jxeu i don't think you can call spending 30mins afk for 2 dungeons p2w, I doubt you will be allowed to stock up on 60 100 EP pots.

  • Not sure what you expected.

    - Free to Play games are almost always pay2win

    - Small Korean online games with low budget and small playerbases are pay2win - they survive on loyal players who invest huge chunks of money regularly into the game, and they feed off the fact that long-term playing players will keep investing money to have the best items (for example, every 6 months there's new Brooches sets released, and each new set has better stats/set effects than the previous one; not many people buy them in the cash shop, as you'd need to spend 300-1000$ to get a full set of best Tera brooches, but those loyal "regulars" will invest that much to get the new brooches sets just for the sake of being on top all the time)

    - Gameforge has a track of not caring about not being pay2win

    - JP/KR/TW are all pay2win and if you've followed this game for a lot of time, then you would have already known that at the very core, SoulWorker is pay2win and no publisher would be able to change the cores of a p2w game

  • There's a daily limit to everything, which you reach if you try hard enough with or without money.

  • Oh i am not saying people cannot leech though i am noticing a trend of people now refusing to drop mats and selling spots on them when people cant find a space to leech from. Read my other response to this i don't feel this game is pay to win so to say but will certainly favor the speed of progression to those that pay and can give an advantage to money player which i feel is kinda the trade off. I am just worried that end game progression and getting your gear fully upgraded will be where the pay to win comes in as i've seen to many games die when it becomes apparent that you need cash shop items to progress your character and more importantly your gear.

  • Check my last quote, that sums this whole thing up.

Okay, sorry either you're a "troll" if so good shot, if not... then let me address this "issue" you have.

First off : Everyone can obtain said items from the vendors or the store since it is STILL in free-trial phase that resets every 24 hours. If you have not taken advantage of that then you are the one in dire need of help no offense.

Actually... that's pretty much it! Sorry but I did have quite the chuckle to this because the game isn't even P2W yet nor has it been shown even in KR or JP. By all means please make sure to get valuable experience and information that you, yourself, have obtained before making threads like this... Oh yeah and advice for next time... Don't make a thread like this when the game isn't even a month old here in NA.

    Cheers.
