Cash Shop/Costumes Prices.

  • These things aren't hand-crafted items and they have no expiry date. They're strings of data that get enabled on your account when you buy it.

This is something that makes me upset. I've seen it a lot in this thread and let me explain why:

As a fellow 2D and 3D artist, I can assure you those things are made by hand, that these are crafted by often more than one individual when the item is moved through the production pipeline. Yes you are correct that these items might be digital and can be reproduced, but everything from the concept of the item, up until the final release was indeed made by people. And is does take serious man hours to produce a new skin. May be not all eyecolors and haircolors, but everything that differs from the original character model for sure.

So please refrain from making something seem unvaluable if you don't have a clue about the effort behind it.

Are the prices still too high for the work of the models? Yes even in my opinion they are. But that doesn't mean that people should make something sound and look like it took no time and effort to make, when it is actually quite the opposite.

  • I am talking mainly from their positions as publishers of the game, not actually the company that designed the game or items or art of whatever.

I probably didn't word it properly and I definitely understand that it takes time and effort to put these things together. That still doesn't mean you can attach whatever price you want just because you want to. There's no limit as to how many of these items can exist at once. There's no expiry date or some "newer" version of it coming out. There's no value to it outside of the game no matter how much time and effort was put in to it.

Also Riot Games owns and makes everything League related. If you want to make a proper comparison, make it with Neople and DFO. And guess what, their prices are actually worth spending on.

  • I'm going to agree with you here, previously I thought the other poster was making a comparison between the physical versions of clothing items, and finding it a bit silly that the outfits and hairstyles in-game can cost more than they would in their IRL counterparts. We can't quite know what they mean without asing them directly though.

That said, I will absolutely say that we shouldn't devalue the work put into them. The actual clothing and hairstyle quality is good enough to show that there was a lot of work that went into it - and we should be recognizing the value of that work and accepting when a fair offer arises that still allows Gameforge to run the servers for the game.

Again, the pricing model is in a poor shape, but we should all be recognizing that real work goes into developing and maintaining the game whether it's on Lion Games or Gameforge's side of the equation. We should be celebrating and supporting when games with a fair business model come up, and when we take issue with things being done poorly we have a responsibility to help to push it in a direction that's sustainable as a business while still respecting us as players, rather than dismissing the value of the work that goes into creating these and bringing them into our hands.

Spot on. But to elaborate again, those words were more directed towards gameforge as the publisher, not to whatever company and artists that worked on the game. Yeah they're bringing the game to us and all that nice stuff. Doesn't mean they can or should milk it for all its worth.

Never intended to mean it that way and I agree. Slap on some prices that aren't blatant cash grabs and you'll get my money. Game will still probably go to the shitter in a couple months but I'll take it.

  • Everyone complains about premium shop prices, while i'm here crying because we got a crappy web shop and cannot preview costumes/emotes:sleeping:

    Btw buy Hair, only 399.

  • Well. The only think i can say as a "outsider"... Yeah i got IP blocked because i live in Venezuela "Veneshit right now, thanks to our current bs president".

If you guys say that the prices are really high, then don't buy.

Just wait and see what happens.

They will eventually need to change the prices or lowering them a bit.

Right now i'm just happy to be able to play at least with VPN. ;(

  • Not sure why you would openly admit using VPN on forums... It is against their ToS

  • I don't really care. As i stated in the IP Block merge forum... this problem was caused at the begining thanks to Gameforge and his terrible management.

    * From the begining they should've started with IP block *.

  • This is very simple and logical, if you do not like do not pay, if you like do it, if the benefits are not what they expected, they will have no choice but to change the prices, they have to learn yet, personally I will wait to see what they do first before investing my money.

you have to hit where it really hurts, the words are blown by the wind

  • I would never spend money into a game, thats still in beta :P

AND i would never support a greedy company like gameforge, they have to learn that they have to adjust to the playership.

If this game would be Black Desert, iam willing to spend 30€ for costumes, because they are nice and the quality is very high.

I Would also spend money for a subscription, to change character appearance or become benefits like xp increase or chance of bonus loot.

But... this? No way sir Gameforge. 25€ Costume Set, 18€ Hairstyles additionally Haircolor. Also items to restore Energy, safety items for armor... why there was no other publisher... Perfect World, NCsoft or something ._.

  • No, just not ncsoft. PW maaaaaaybe, but than i look at Gigantic and i say no neither
