As far as i know:
Zodai said something about this, yes he is not from Gameforge team, but he has a point, and sometimes in some games the prices at launch will be changed.

You can switch freely and for free between hairstyles that you own and the ones from initial character creation in PSO2. Needed to get that out there.
It was just off the top of my head earlier, but just to name a few others. Tera, FF XIV (although in that one you can change hairstyles with ingame currency), Archeage, PSO2 all don't let you keep hairstyles AFAIK. Could be wrong on like one of them.
There are just as many popular MMOs that let you keep your hair as those who don't so, either way that argument is moot.
This topic is interesting. Respect to the OP for trying to justify the prices, but the argument needs some work.
Let's apply that to an example.
May I sell you some shampoo? €5 per bottle, and after you next shower your hair will be glossier than ever!
But wait! I also offer a brand at €10 per bottle, and you can even use it while bathing! How awesome is that?!
People don't pay extra for commonly found features that are expected of a new product. There is no reason Soulworker should get away with charging prices for a hairpiece that other games would charge for an entire costume set.
I wish it was lowered... But at least we are able to craft SOME costumes? ![]()

That doesn't mean anything. That's speculation, there's no official announcement that it is or isn't the final price. It's nice to be hopeful, but don't say this isn't the final price when you don't know.
Mind blown. There are actually games out there that charge you to change your hairstyle every time but you lose the old one? What a scam imo. Ive never heard of this.
I actually thought you (OP) was going to post comparison between real life hairstyles. I don't know how much women pay but I bet it's hella expensive. As far as men, 15 is average and some guys get a cut twice a month to look fresh. I saw a lot of people saying how in game is more expensive than real life but that is not even close to being correct.
I agree 20 is too expensive for such a small change. Also being that the color is tied to the hairstyle afaik. Even 10 is too much imo. Maybe 5-7 would be more reasonable.
Wait there are games that let you keep your old hairstyle?? LOL??? People spoiled af
Do you keep your old hairstyle irl when you get a cut? No lmfao
Anyone remember MapleStory and their RNG hairstyles loool... Easily spend more than $20 and you didn't get to keep it in your closet like a wig

What the FUCK are you doing?! Logic and common sense aren’t allowed here damn it. How dare you compare a game to real life?!
Can't tell how much of that was sarcasm.
MapleStory. Initial release date: April 29, 2003
Good to know we're still using the same standards as 15 years ago. Show of hands! Who still uses dial-up?
Being able to change between hairstyles you bought and your default is pretty much a given in any recent games I've played that had a costume system. Elsword, Aura Kingdom, Vindictus, Closers, FFXIV (just an ingame currency charge), Blade & Soul (premium hairstyles take up the hat slot).
Only ones that don't have that feature now are games where your character model is locked at character creation, and even complete recustomisation vouchers rarely cost this much.
Not like Soulworker's selection of hairstyles is so drop dead gorgeous they can charge double of what you find in other games either. For that price I'd expect full customizations on length, color and details, whenever I want. And proper previewing features. Why isn't there a preview from front and back, for one?

Not sure why. I think we are using an old version of the korean game... At least they should try to "polish" premium market more.

Let's hope these prices are not final,or if they are,add a lot of styles and features for that price, like Shiraen said.Is it that hard,GF? I do hope they will make an announcement about that, but I don't think it will come this early

Yea also made a big topic that include that... I just hope the price will not be the same... seriously some games after beta change the prices, if they also hear the suggestion of players.
Point is "keeping your hairstlye" isn't a standard, maybe it's cause I never bother getting hair changes often but in almost every mmo game I've played you pay a fee to change your appearance and don't keep the old defaults
Does it justify the price of hair? Probably not. Does it really matter? Not really. They'll adjust it to whatever makes the most money lel.
While yes, BnS has a standard default hair that never changes, there are items in the game that changes your hairstyle where it's completely free to get, just sell the gold you get in game for hmcoin.
I believe Elsword does the same thing however, they have 30-day and permanent one's and of course, you'd buy the permanant one cuz you can change hairstyles any time as long as you have it.
Anyway, with that being said, still can't justify these hair prices. Of course, the one's that cost about $20-25 to get. The others are meh.

You can change it along with your entire character with a costume change.
Costs under $15 btw
I can feel the Pride and Accomplishment oozing out of the current hair prices.
I know the prices are high, but personally I'm ok with them the way they are. And before yall roast me for my support, allow me to explain. Story time!
Once upon a time we used to get tons of new mmo's every year. But the people were in an uproar over having to pay a monthly fee, so f2p was born. And then, even more mmo's were birthed. It was a glorious time to be alive! But with all light, there must be dark and out came the prominent cash shop, as well as the shade tactics used to entice purchases. But the people would not stand for this p2w, how dare money buy power! Maybe it's because it surrounds us all irl, maybe because we can't stand to lose, or maybe because we're too self serving. Regardless the people crushed the p2w! Crushed to the point where if it's mentioned too loudly, a new game will be dust in a month!
Now fast forward to present time. MMO's are few and far between. If we're lucky we might get 2-3 releases a year. We deal with majorly staggered releases to different regions, likely due to publishers waiting on data to determine if it's worth moving forward on an ip or letting go of the license. Our beloved genres have become a hefty gamble, and seen as a poor investment.
Now to the reason I support these high prices for simple cosmetics. SW is getting a lot of mainstream buzz and word of mouth. There's likely some who will argue this, but from what I've seen it doesn't look like there's anything game crushingly p2w and the consensus seems to agree this game is going to do very well. That being said, if SW can manage to equal or outsell a p2w cash shop with it's cosmetics, then there is a very real chance this game will become a talking point for future mmo investors! Showing them that good gameplay combined with heavy customization through cash shop purchases can be profitable, and in turn rejuvenating the genres we love!
That is why I justify $20 hairstyles. And cheers if you read all that nonsense ![]()
tl;dr High prices on cosmetics can potentially lead to more investment into mmo's, bringing us more games to play and without any p2w bs.

There's a pretty healthy forum community saying "Hey, these are expensive and we won't buy it" and then there's a small group of people who do buy it.
Can you really say the odds of beating a more traditional cashshop are good when only the small minority of players buy into it?

People defending/crying about the cash shop on the forum is in no way indicative of the actual numbers of people buying items. Don’t pretend to know what the minority is, because you don’t. Only gameforge knows. And guess what, if the prices don’t change they must be hitting their profit margins.
History also shows precedents for cashshop MMOs that offer a reasonable price tag for cosmetics, and remain strong to this day. Consumers will expect a similar pricetag on a similar item in a similar game.
Examples that compete with Soulworker's niche: Vindictus, Dragon Nest, Elsword, Closers, (PSO2?). If this one turns out to be outrageously more expensive, that's a big minus for paying users, regardless of how not P2W it turns out to be.
If being extorted is a hobby of sorts, I'm sure China has plenty of browser games to offer.

It is indicative of how many people aren't buying it though. I find it hard to believe GameForge would ignore the possibility of slightly lowering prices for a greater increase in the number of willing buyers. Of course that's also just a guess given I don't have their data.
Can't really fault them if they're happy with their current profits though.
