Some ppl like to RP on MMO's so to some ppl the name is important.
I would just advise people to think ahead of time of several possible names and not rely on just one.
Especially not when that one name is high in demand.

It's something that has never changed from past 10 years of MMOs, except if they intend to give people early access from Founder packs, then I can understand that people can get really salty about it.
