DO NOT ACTIVATE QUICKPAY WITH PAYPAL

  • Hi all. This thread is warning any charging player not to authorize Quick Pay for PayPal in Soulworker. There is an issue where doing so can cause any purchases made to be made TWICE charging your PayPal account twice with a single click.

This is not a case of a double clicking mouse, my mouse is just fine. This is not a case of a lagging game browser. This is bordering on fraudulent. And when contacting support about it they claim that I "spammed the Buy Now" button. With evidence where e-mails are sent within seconds of one another they will not do anything about it. No one in their right mind would buy two smaller Soul Cash packs in quick succession when a larger pack for the same amount of money offers more Soul Cash. It actually does not make any sense.

That is not the case. One single click. Not isolated to a single incident either.

  • Can confirm this.

I also authorized quickpay thinking it was going to benefit me.

Few days ago I tried to purchase some Soulcash and it still asked me to log in to paypal and confirm my payment

I remember thinking it was weird because I dont see how it was any quicker.

After doing so I checked my paypal and I got charged 5!! times. 4 preapproved payment and 1 from the one I confirmed.

Lucky for me they got stuck on Paypal in 'pending' mode and I could quickly tell my bank not to let those payments through.

I also didn't have soulcash for 4 days nor a way to get it (since any future payments with Paypal will just add to the pending

list if you have one) but at least I saved myself from a 250 euro bill.

    0/10 would not recommend anyone.

  • I can also confirm with this.

The only current solution from this as a player is to go on your transaction account in PayPal and cancel the pre-approved payment method until GameForge needs to fix it.

  • If this issue has affected anyone else, please write a brief testimonial. I ask this not for visibility, but so that I can provide this as proof to their support that it's not user-error that multiple Soul Cash purchases of smaller amounts occurs when QuickPay is approved on their cash shop, to try to get a refund for Soul Cash that I've left unspent on my account.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Happened to me on the first day, made a thread about it and contacted their support which sent me to billing, billing said nothing was wrong on their end so I called my bank to get it resolved.

  • Happened here as well.

I wanted to buy 15 Euro worth of Soulcash. Ofc, the only way to do this, is doing 1 10 Euro and 1 5 Euro.

Before confirming my 10 Euro Payment, it suggested me to use PayPal Quickpay. Thought "Just like in Lol. 1 Click, have to do nothing more."

BIGGEST MISTAKE ON EARTH. I dunno why, but I'd even go as far as saying, that Gameforge does this on purpose. As I wanted to do the second Payment for 5 Euro, it charged me for twice of the amount. Like I got 2 Emails within a 4 Second intervall. I don't even know what Human would be capable of thinking, that this is something made on purpose. First, it's impossible. Second, why would someone, as you mentioned before, buy 2 smaller packs, when the bigger ones gives more bonus SC? <.<

AAAAAAAAAANd what does Mr. Super-Competent Billing Support employee answer to that? "Your account issued 3 Orders, therefore you've been charged 3 times." °_°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° (Ye, ofc there are 3 Orders.... CUZ YOUR SYSTEM IS BROKEN AND YOU DUN EVEN CARE)

This is a nice philosophy. I mean, in the End, I don't care about 5 bucks. But this System is definitely bugged and now imagine someone buying 20 Euro and gets charged 2-3 times. And what will their Answer be? Right. The exact same one. Ahh. I knew them from Nostale and Aion already, but Gameforge keeps proving, that they are either employing people with an IQ of -10 or beeing the cause of their behaviour, by making rules like that. "You have ordered, you have paid, how it was done, is not our problem." °-°

The next time this happens, after I deactivated PayPal Quick pay, I'm gonna pay em a visit. :lilly4:

  • I wonder which law applies here. If we go by German law this is extremely fishy. A bit of googling and I found an article claiming GameForge tried to exclude their online currency from the German "right of withdrawal" in NosTale. They lost in court.

Edit: And they still tired to revert it... It doesn't say how it turned out.

  • I'm so happy that at least my paypal account seemed to be smart about it and put all those orders in pending mode

That way I could quickly resolve it and I didn't have to deal with any support to help me.

    God bless me lol.

  • Haven't bought anything yet, tho was planning to - now however I think I'll wait until this is resolved as I don't want to deal with this kind of annoyance ._.
Is this only related to paypal quickpay? Or normal paypal transactions as well? - Thanks in advance for the answer!

    Only Quickpay.

Normal paypal is safe, just decline them when they ask if you wish to use quickpay.

Are you guys using the Steam Client or the standalone. Haven't had that issue yet.

    Standalone client here

  • I was thinking about using QuickPay the first time I bought SoulCash. I bought 50€ worth of SoulCash, so in hindsight I'm really glad I didn't use it, because being charged three times the amount at that point is a bit of a disaster.

  • Why isn't this topic pinned or something, it is a somewhat serious issue that can lead to people not accidentally overcharging and being forced to do a chargeback.(which can lead to a ban in most cases).

  • I want to be honest, this isn't an issue unique to Soul Worker. I remember this being an issue when Elsword first introduced Quickpay.

I don't know if that means it's an issue with the Quickpay itself, or if it comes down to how a business sets up the quickpay, but I honestly would never give a business free access to charge or recurring charge you unless you 100% trust and are comfortable with the risks involved.

I can confirm there is no chance of the Steam platform doing this, as it requires the funds to be in the wallet and you can leave your wallet empty.

  • Just beware that if you chargeback there is a chance your account will get banned. I charged back almost immediately after support told me nothing was wrong and am now in the process of disputing it, which will likely get my account banned for something that was a bug in their system.

  • You would know if this happens if you simply go to your paypal account and see multiple payments you didn't approve?
