I also believe the advancements won't come out for awhile, However you never know. I know in Blade & Soul what took over a year to get in Korea took 2 months to get in NA. Reason: milk money while there are lots of players still on the game.

Anyway as you're saying, GF has the content locked atm and will eak it out when they feel its necessary.
Personally i don't think now is the time to be releasing content updates; I expect that a month or two after release and to be padded out with in game events.
Players will always be leaving and this is usually combated by two things, game updates as you say or marketing. Since the game is new your likely to see more advertisements than updates

I wouldn't really compare our game to BnS. For one, when BnS launched, it launched a few months before Valentines Day, and BnS got the same NEW VDay costume as the Korean version AS well as the previous years. (i.e there was no "NA version is behind a year on event items")
However, that is not the case so far in SW.
I feel like SW is going to be one of those cookie cutter copies where GL release is just going to be the whole "year delayed" method. Like Christmas of 2018, JP/KR will get a new 2018 costume, whereas GL will get the 2017 version, even though it is 2018.
