Terrible naming/wording of certain stats/effects

  • Super armour break and armour break

"in order to fix some translation issues"

Let's clarify some things... Gameforge and the community

    1) "Armor break" should be named "Armor penetration" or "Defense penetration"

1.5) What is this? SoulWorker_2018-03-19_22-27-25.png Armor penetration? Super armor break? A completely different stat?

    2) SoulWorker_2018-03-19_22-29-16.png should be renamed "xx on kill". Not "HP Regeneration on Kill: +22", but "+22 HP regeneration on kill", preferably without the 'regeneration' in there, but that's subjective.

    3) The evasion stat should be clarified that it doesn't actually 'evade' an attack, just converts the attack into a 'partial damage' one. That or the 'partial damage' concept should be renamed to 'glancing blow' or 'grazing hit' or some variation of this, since 'partial damage' just feels so.. gamey.. so clinical.

Additionally, seeing "miss" when we hit something is very misleading, again it should be renamed to something like "graze" since we didn't MISS the target.

    4) The wording on practically all the stuff like this is terribly conveyed: sw bad translation.png

It should say the value of the bonus before the time, ie: "Evasion reduces damage received by 1% for 5 seconds." When we have to sit and think about something, re-reading it multiple times just to understand what it means, you know it's screwed up.

Additionally, why is it saying "evasion"? Last I checked, "Evade" makes you take a "partial hit". Shouldn't this say "Dodging"?

    5) "Incapacitated" should be "knocked down". I was reading items with bonuses to this SoulWorker_2018-03-19_22-24-58.png and had no idea what it meant. Turns out, it means knocked down.

And like above, these should read "Extra damage to knocked down enemies +3", or for better English: "3% extra damage to knocked down enemies."

This applies to practically everything that lists a "type" of something: SoulWorker_2018-03-19_22-36-42.png

Sure, it's functional, yes, but it just reads poorly.

These are just the major outliers with the localization. There are a plethora of other issues (like most of the NPC dialogue), but I feel these are pretty critical to have displayed properly. Haven't delved into skills yet, but there are also a bunch of issues with them other people have reported (notably on Lily and Stella).

  • 1) Should be named "defense penetration" or simply "penetration" since this stat is affects enemy's defense when calculating damage, as shown below:

    Quote

    Normal_Damage = (Attack_Min + Attack_Max)/2 x (1 - (Enemy_Defense x (1 - Penetration)) / (Enemy_Defense x (1 - Penetration) + 50 x Enemy_Level)) x Skill_Modifier x (1 + Modifier_1) x (1 + Modifier_2) x ... x (1 + Modifier_n)

This stat "penetrates" some of the defense of enemy, but it's not a straight multiplication, it's more complicated, as shown above.

    2) Should be "On kill: restore +X HP" or "On enemy death: restore +X HP", or replace "HP" with whatever other value is affected.

    3) What he said. The way evasion works in this game: if you take the hit from enemy, there's a chance you'll "evade" it, but still you'll take 50% of the damage (the damage number will be displayed in a different color, usually grey). If you press Shift button, you "dodge" the attack completely (you're basically invincible to 99% of attacks during the dodge).

    4) Should be "On evasion: -1% damage received for 5 seconds" or "On evasion: +1% damage reduction for 5 seconds", or replace "seconds" with "sec" or "s".

    5) What he said.

I know I'm expecting too much from a company like Gameforge who always cheapens out on everything, but it would be nice if you actually played through your game to understand what you're actually trying to translate. Any person who has played this game before will instantly notice how janky and unintuitive some of the translations are.
