Anyone else just concerned?

  • Why did we not get the Japanese version of this game? Atleast the japanese one was decent, unlike the korean one.

Because they straight up can't ask for it. You don't get rights from a publisher to publish their publish in another region. If they want to publish the game, they have to ask the people who made it, Lion Games, who are Korean. This means the Korean version is the original or "default"/"base" build.

I know, but atleast try to get your "base" game modified into the direction Japanese one is going. It's not forbidden to change some of the mechanics to favor the playerbase.....

Sorry, but a small increase in exp doesnt require 1 month of work.

Nor does the enabling of contentt wich is allready in game files ready to go.

But oh wait, better release some trash costumes when they have a possibility to release better ones

  • As a whale now for the past almost 15 years, what I can say is this:

Worth can only be assumed by the individual. For me, if I had fun during the time I had, that makes it worth the time and money investment. So that's ultimately up to the user to decide if what they got out of the experience made it worth it.

Don't let other's loud voices make the judgment for you. Experience it yourself, and make that decision.

  • JP this JP that, what exactly do you guys want that JP has that is such a biiiiiiiiig gamechanger that we need it?

Faceroll leveling? Lower material costs? What is it?

  • The only thing I'm "concerned" about is when the people "trying to better the game" complain too much even knowing that nothing is going to be addressed. People bored at the current "endgame" are quitting/hiatus, while all the complaints drive new players away. Ironic how people "trying to better the game" are helping destroy it faster. Then sometimes there's another party that encourages people to not play the game or play other servers as a method of "rebellion" until they supposedly fix all the "issues" with the game. Yeah well, I guess there can't be any issues when there isn't a game to have them. I quoted "concerned" because I don't really care. I'm having my fun with the game for now, but if it ends up getting shafted then there are still many other good games to play (especially upcoming this year). I've played enough games to know how common the current situation is, so this is nothing new to me. People still have the option of at least three other servers (at least until they flop too, if they ever do) if this version becomes "unplayable" for whatever reason.

  • If complaints are valid and are driving players away then that's a good thing because it's saving those players the grief of having to go through what those before did.

Want to hear good things? Let's see some good things being done.

Some complaints are certainly kind of ridiculous, but if it comes down to the fact that you still can't even switch characters properly without the game bricking, or not even being able to use your skills at times in dungeons, meanwhile they keep filling the cash shop with more costumes, yeah that's a pretty fucking valid complaint.

Well you see, the problem is the communication between the players and gf.

CoMa's are trying their best, but they have not any info neither.

And personally, i'm kinda annoyed with all the "soon" we get now, yet they keep putting new stuff in the shop.

Like they are aftraid the game will be dead in 6 month, so they need to milk as much money as the can.

Not to mention that we dont even have any ETA (we dont even ask they day X, all we ask is how much should we wait. Around 2 weeks? Around 1 month? 3?).

Neither do we have the roadmap to see what they will do in the future.

Sorry, but it's nt how you run the business, and even less the game.

You can keep keep ignor the players, expecting they will close eyes or forget on what's happening right now.

  • In terms of what they are supposed to be doing, I think the community managers and forum moderators are doing a good job. If they have nothing to say then it's probably because GameForge hasn't given them any information they want to be shared. Now, remember that GameForge is just the publisher. If GameForge has nothing to tell the community managers, then the developers (Lion Games) might not be giving them any information either. I'm not saying that people shouldn't complain, but some people take it farther than just constructive feedback and go out of their way to try to hurt the game. Many people are blaming GameForge (which to some extent is reasonable), but they don't have full control of content scheduling. Lion Games are ultimately the ones who decide what they think is ready to be released, and they're stationed in Korea. Considering how long it took them to even release SoulWorker in JP from the original teaser dates, they don't exactly seem to be the best at planning. I also don't think we know how large their development team is, so if it's only a small team dedicated to working on the NA/EU localization, things will take much longer. People also need to consider that they're also working on JP and KR at the same time, and their internal development practices. There are so many factors that people with little to no development experience don't know about that adds up to a lot of time to release these things. The reason why certain illegal servers seem to have faster content releases is because they simply steal content from official servers, they are free to hack at the code however they want to, and they aren't restricted by any business practices, rules, or managers.

Edit: TL;DR - Just give them some more time, it's barely even been a month since release and we've just barely finished the first month's login rewards. However, I will say that at the current pace and "updates" so far, they are going down the exact same path as Enmasse/ALLM with Kritika NA.

  • If you go on their website (http://www.liongames.co.kr/Front/?lang=eng) it appears that SoulWorker is their only game. Normally development companies with a few games won't have an easy time with development or have as much experience as companies that are veterans to the topic.

  • My entire post in not lack of new content on international level.

My problem is lack of content on gf's version of the game, compared to to korean's state.

Thus, Gameorge ins entirely responsible of lack of communcation and sheldues

Than again, if you look into the game data, you may notice that we have all the content we are asking for, yet it's not enable, so the point of "LG isn't allowing release of x now" is invalid

    wYvcCcb.gif

  • Actually it's completely valid. I feel you don't understand how licensing releases work. The developer provides the game content in whatever state they want it to be in, and tell the licenser what they are allowing to be provided to the region. It's common practice for a game in a further state in the host country to have the newer things already installed in the client (so that localization and bug testing can be done in house), but not enabled for players.

  • Tv shows often make episodes way in advance, in fact they have a whole backlog of episode buffer. Should tv shows release all the finished episodes at once? Would that be good for sales? Simple answer is no.

My point was that GameForge can't tell us anything if they have nothing to say. They don't necessarily decide the update schedule of the game. It's not about whether they "can" or "are allowed to" release something, it's whether they "want" to. It's typical for ports like this to have future content locked in the game files, but not released until much later (DFO, Kritika, BnS, etc.). I don't see how it's an invalid point if they decide they want to update monthly or bi-monthly, etc. It's typical for these games to have major updates on a monthly basis at best. The problem is that we aren't being given any ongoing in-game events to buy time for actual game updates (weekend EP reduction doesn't count). We're just barely on the borderline of 1-month release status.

  • That is exactly what i want to hear from gameforge.

What are their plans on game updates. How often will we get the updates. How big the updates will be.

When will we catch the korean version. And will we

I say give them at least until April 1st or a week into April, and then complain if the situation is still the same. Like I mentioned before, we're just barely approaching the one-month milestone. It hasn't even been 30 days yet. I doubt we will actually catch up to KR since this is rarely ever the case in a relationship where the developer is not also the publisher.

  • On the contrary, I would love this game to succeed. I think most people who have concerns want the game to succeed. People complain because they are frustrated.
