So I'm not sure how many of you have heard the recent controversy and the news about the current state of KR Soul Worker, but I'm sure everyone has known for quite some time that the KR server of Soul Worker had been on a constant and steady decline since the launch of the game in South Korea last year. In the recent year, KR Soul Worker had been taking in extensive inside reports from users and have taken their feedbacks seriously, and have been reconstructing the game for quite some time, and in the start of 2018, a lot of users have been slightly increasing, and long time veterans of that game have been giving pretty good feedbacks. But even still, this game was called by many players a "Ruined/Dead server".
But in the last couple of weeks, a huge influx of population has increased in the KR server. If you look at the graph below, the one on the left shows that the highest amount of players that the KR server had was back in January of last year, at the start of the game. The one on the right shows that this game had an average of 964% increase in population, which is absolutely insane in any types of games.
The cause of this huge increase in user population, is because of numerous controversies, but the one major controversy was due to an illustrator of a game called "Girls Frontline K7", a mobile game that is (was) a super popular in Korea. Apparently this illustrator was an illustrator for many numerous top major game companies, and she has recently been caught up in a controversy, where she was found out to be part/member of a very strong extremist feminist group in Korea. If you do not understand/know Korean culture very well, being a feminist/feminazi is very heavily looked down upon in Korea, and in some cases, considered downright "illegal" in some areas. Due to this sudden controversy, many users of many popular anime based mmo/rpg have all left those games, and have been actively searching for a game that had the similar genre and style of these games. A lot of top major anime mmorpg have been under fire due to the fact they had been in connection with this illustrator. Due to these reasons, many once popular anime mmorpg in Korea started to lose it's members. These players started to search for a new game. And that's where Soul Worker started to shine.
Since Soul Worker had been actively improving the game since last year, many users started to become more and more vocal about this game. They also promised new and more exciting contents to come. Due to this reason, many players started to hear about these changes and upcoming events/updates that people started to join Soul Worker more and more. What started as a small trickle of players became an exponential increase within the past couple of days. The KR server used to have 3 major servers, but since the game had so little players, they merged into one server, called [Jya Ill Loh]. But now this server is so full of players, they had to reopen a new server called [Roskah]. I think this is a good news, because it means more players (although it means most of the player base are full of new players), it means more players means more funding, which leads to more and more new events and updates to come. ![]()
