Amaryllis

  • Just. How the hell.

    As you probably already know, this is about steel grave chapter 10 phase 5. I'm sorry for creating a thread just for the purpose of ranting but I just feel so helpless here.

    I'm a lvl 40 Lily and I've been trying to beat ch 10 for the past few days. And honestly, I don't know if this is my fault, because maybe I'm just bad at this game, but I just can't manage to beat amaryllis. It always goes like this:

    >beat 4 phases easily

    >clear all the other mobs in phase 5

    >get amaryllis to second form

    >die

    Honestly. Her attack pattern is insane. I can't even get close to her and do some damage since I have to dodge all the time. And of course I can't faceroll because her spikes hit me for around 6k each.

    So, my question is: am I just a noob? Or is it really that hard? And if so, then how in the world am I supposed to beat her? Am I doing something wrong? If you guys have any advice then please tell me. Once again, I'm sorry for ranting like this but I feel like I'm close to a mental breakdown ;A;

  • Get to lvl 45 or higher

    Ch 10 is weed out chapter lul, maybe if you practice enough you'll find a way to counter every single move but she's just kinda bull**** in general

    Guess I will have to do that, although it kinda bugs me because I hoped I will get the blueprints before hitting 45. Welp D:

  • Yea it's really that hard. I didn't do chapter 10 Steel Graves till I reached 55.... I just farmed Chapter 5 for BP, so that I can get the 50k BP Title (It's really good btw). But my suggestion if you are trying to kill Amaryllis at your current level is that kill all the mobs first then her. The npc with you will distract her once you do so. Oh and keep armor breaking : ^)

  • Keep leveling. At lvl 40 you still don't have your ultimate and you can't use the gear you get from it anyway. I managed to get her down consistently around level 45. She'll still hit like a truck, but with good positioning and patience you should be able to down her.

    Well, it's good to know that my fails aren't entirely caused my my noobness uwu

    And I'm doing exactly that, but even then it's still hard to get close to her since her attacks are kinda AoE and I have to dodge them anyway.

    I feel a little more encouraged now ;u; I'm gonna keep lvling for now, but I swear I will beat her ass soon.

  • Disclaimer: I am a Stella player so compared to Lily I have skills with higher range, enabling me to do damage from a somewhat safe distance. I can also heal myself with multiple skills, which gives me much more survivability than other characters.

    Amaryllis in the Steel Graves seems to be kind of broken. The Amaryllis fought during the Story seems extremely weak compared to the Steel Graves version. The hitboxes on some of her attacks are pretty big and if you can't get the NPC to tank damage for you it gets very hard. I usually tend to clear out all other mobs first and then try to let the NPC take aggro for a while, so I can then put out some burst damage.

    Once she starts her spinning projectile spam I tend to run as far away as I can, so I don't get hit by any of those (She somehow once managed to oneshot me with an invisible projectile, since then I pay her a lot more respect.). Keep in mind that they turn into homing projectiles in phase 2 of the boss fight. If you can manage to bait her close range attack and dodge, you can deal a bit of damage to her without too much risk. Once she starts the attack that lets many small spikes appear from the ground I tend to get a bit of distance between us and attack as soon as the spikes begin to disappear. If she starts the attack that spawns 3 large spikes right beneath you I would recommend running away from the first spike and then turning around and getting closer to her. Once the third spike has a position it will spawn in, you can deal damage to her. Her spin teleport requires some ridiculous timing and has a very large hitbox, therefore making this only possible to counter with experience and dodging.

    While she does most of the attacks that lock her in place I tend to use very long range Stella skills to deal damage with low risk, something which Lily can't do to my knowledge.

    If you don't have it yet, get the Meggidon's Rage Akasha skill. The 15/20% stamina regeneration every 20/15 seconds is very useful to prevent you from running out of stamina for annoying attacks to dodge. If you manage to get the hidden version, you will even get 15/20% stamina every 5.5 seconds. +4 or even +5 unique equipment is very useful, especially if a lot of them have HP+.

    When I first fought her with level ~27, I was overwhelmed with the damage she dealt. I soon got used to her patterns and when to give her a lot of space and managed to beat her consistently with level ~32.

    I am currently at level 41 and can beat her 4/5 times and 5/5 times if I focus and don't play too aggressively.

    Considering her level is set to 47 it's no surprise that she is indeed a challenging boss. I hope some of my strategies can help you to beat her. I wish you the best of luck.

  • Shuvi that's some solid advice right there, thank you very much! I suppose I will just have to practice this fight a lot. Although I must say, it gets hard to play according to the strategies when you know that 1 mistake will result in death and you enter panic mode, which is something I do pretty often ;u;

    I actually have that akasha (not hidden, sadly) and running out of stamina isn't that much of a problem. Then again, this whole fight is enough of a problem feelsbadman

    Again, thank you for sharing your advice with me and have a nice day c:

  • The problem here is the synchronization with the server. The visual may not be were the attack actually is. You can see that here for example. You can potentially block all the projectiles with the NPC if the server doesn't screw up (it usually screws up....). It would definitely be good to have like 30-35k HP+ and/or high critical resistance.

    The first half of the fight should not be that difficult. The second one is were it get's tricky. A window were you can attack is when she slams down. Use any fast casting skill and get out. She is actually a boss I really prefer to kite and a good example why range rules in such games. Self healing obviously is also a big plus. Your only option may be to burst her down on a melee character. And yes, they really should lower the damage in Steel Grave. Its to high for a mode without items.

    While I do agree with 95% of what you said, especially the part about server synchronization, I have to disagree with the idea to lower the damage. Chapter 5/10/15 should be rather hard as that is the place you can get the blueprint for the Grave Guardian series.

  • I tried her the first time with lvl 38 where she 1-2 shot me and i was like "what did just happen?!"
    With lvl 40 i tried her again (+6 weapon and +4 set) and still wasnt able to beat her. But i survied longer and looked at her attacks.
    At lvl 42 or 43 i was able to beat her but just with luck. I tried her 3-4 times after that and then never again...

    I did it like this:
    1. get rid of most or all adds
    2. run in loops until your allies take aggro
    3. use die-phoon and the ult
    4. repeat step 2. and 3. until she is dead

    it takes a little bit longer but for me it was the safest strategy

  • Yup that boss is broken in Steel Graves. The only strategy that works for me is summoning golem that tanks her while I can attack from the distance (Erwin here). I killed her like 2-3 times around 45-47 level and I did it just by luck...

  • keep levelling and get Guillotine skill for the sake of highest damage multiplier and invincibility. The most important for me though is the invincibility. No matter how powerful a boss, his damage is zero on you while you cast Guillotine. I always cast Guillotine on Suzie just right when she create those deadly energy ball and just watch the balls past through me. I mean my Lily...

  • Update: I hit 42 and got the ult, which is indeed pretty nice thanks to the invincibility it provides. Basically, I tried 4 times.

    4 times I managed to get Amaryllis down to 1 or 2 hp bars.

    4 times I ended up dying to missiles that seemingly came out of nowhere.

    Game, why must you torment me so

  • I finally did it omg, I still can't believe it. Thank you everyone for the advice, you guys helped me out a lot. I feel like I won a medal at the olympics or something, aaa I'm so happy ;u;

  • Yeah, but I don't feel as much pressure anymore and more or less know what to do. I used to stand in the same line as the npc when the missiles came so he could tank them, but I figured I should actually stand on the opposite side and let them flow because that lessens the chance of being snipped by an invisible one. The fight is still rather hard, but now I feel motivated and not frustrated like before. ^^

  • I became a tryhard and reached steel graves ep 15 with lilly when I was lvl 38.Never beaten episode 15 ofc.The key was Tempter Grave akasha and the strategy was mostly hit and run.Amaryllis 1 hit you with her rockets but they follow a straight line.You can run in circles then learn her patterns.I cant say its possible without temptes grave,that 6 second immunity was all I needed to do decent dmg then run.

  • it took me weeks to beat that level, but as others said get all other mobs down and let the npc "tank" gives more chance to survive. titles with hp gain on mob kill are a gem, if you oopsed a bit before reaching that point. there's also a card that heals 1% hp per minute, so if you're high on max hp that 1% is not so bad
