NA Servers Down Again

  • Why is NA only facing this problem though.

Purely speculations, but there are a number of reasons:

    1. NA may have more licit activity than other servers. Hard to confirm, but hackers can cause server issues due to the nature of the packets that they send. As mentioned by Gameforge, it appeared as though they were suffering for DDOS attacks. This points towards the most likely culprit being hackers.

    2. Gameforge is an EU based publisher. I can't confirm if Gameforge has ever published a title to the west until now. Lack of experience or resources dedicated to a region that isn't normally serviced isn't an uncommon practice. This is unlikely as I'm sure Gameforge with the amount of titles they've published in the past, saw NA as pretty sizable audience. There's hardly a chance that they'd decide to publish this game to us and decide to cheapen out.

    3. Bad luck. Murphy's law, sometimes s*** just happens. It may just be coincidence that the NA server went out three times so far in the past couple days.

  • NA undoubtedly has the highest pop. If steam charts aren't enough, our forum is by far the most active by a landslide. Most likely, it's a DDOS thing. My guess is it's someone salty that can't play due to IP/location restrictions whom can't move on. Long shot being, it's someone from the EU servers doing it for shts and giggles since NA is quite literally the only server that constantly goes down like this.

Meh, game's not exactly on an incline. It's about time GF steps its game up and put better preventative measures in place lest, more people's patience wear thin. A few of my friends have already jumped ship back to another game ye may not mention that's similar in the ingame chat.

  • this just unreasonable. no matter what their reason is. its unprofessional. I forgave the first time, the second time, even the third time. but FFS this is just crazy. a damn mobile game has more stability....

  • they had this problem in beta it crashed alot, but by the end of beta it was lots better. yea i hope there someone there cause of this weekend!? if not we're pretty much screwed!!!

  • Will they refund the VIP pack purchase for something like this if we put in a request? (Steam that is)

  • They could be getting DDOS'ed. We have no idea what the issue is until or unless GameForge tells us as end-users. Getting frustrated gets us nowhere. Relax and listen to some music or play something else while we wait for news or for the server to get back online.

I'm sure that they know about it already. Almost all online software services (especially services that must be running 24x7 like MMOs) have a 24x7 team that actively monitors service uptime. The fact that the NA server has gone down three times in the last 24 hours is certainly a cause for concern and investigation by their respective network and application teams.
