There is or was the option to buy it oneself. Also this does not affect the game in the slightest. The item has no impact on the game itself. It's just luxury.

The more time passes since the last time that item was obtainable the less are available therefore the price will rise. It is not guaranteed that anyone will actually buy that costume for that amount of money either.
To assume the population of your server you should keep track of prices for low level and end level gear.

As someone mentioned, Supply and Demand. And you also have to keep into account. People who dont want to spend real money on the game (You I assume in this case) Rely on others to get the goods what you want. You also have to take in account. The character that you are playing. The popularity of said character, commonness of trends for cosmetics. And how and what limited items were. If the items were fan favorite or did people not buy it for a reason. Did one person buy a bunch of the same thing and wait to make it more expensive? If you arent going to go out of your way to spend real money to get the item you actually want. Then it sounds like a personal problem. Because the market isnt going to bend just for you. The game barely been out for two minutes, so everything is going to be shakey. I already accepted that, However since our mindsets are always based around money in the market, I dont see why its a shock to begin with Zzz.
