A vast majority of the Mac users that I know these days dual-boot. That should be pretty much standard after apple switched from PowerPC to x86.

  • More platforms for the game to be played on I think is great.

From what I understand of development, depending on what is used for the application to run porting to another platform could be a huge development job. For example any Direct X use is limited to only Microsoft.

Alternatives exist but require code to be converted or an entire redesign. This can take as long to do as develop the game depending on the programmers familiarity, and how much code needs to be ported / redesigned.

Still there is nothing wrong with wanting games designed for the platform you use.

  • Highly doubt there will be an OSX Release. Going from windows->mac as mentioned previously is a massive developmental effort. Since the game is being translated and not newly developed, it'll be a really large task for them to just have a Mac-ready game.

Although it would be nice, you can always just get bootcamp and run native windows on mac.

  • For some weird reason the jp version ran on my friends mac.

Don't hedge your bets on that though.

Hmmm two possible ways it could .....

    1. vFusion or some other tool to run a application in a virtual machine.

    2. Wine that I used to use to play Windows Games on Linux (Mac OSX version available).

After ports dried up of games on Linux and I got tired of trying to get games to run under wine with poor performance I gave up and used windows. Frankly I don't see any practical use for Mac OS anymore (Mac only creative stuff is almost non-existent) and Apple barely supporting it any-longer as they are almost totally focused on mobile now.

He probably wasn’t playing on the mac partition tho. As they already said, you just need to set up a windows partition on your mac using bootcamp and you’re ready to go.
