Topic Masterthreads

  • It's getting really old to log in each day and see thread after thread made about the alt nerf, drop rate changes, ect.

Would it be possible to look into doing a masterthread when stuff like this happens, where everything is kept in one thread and new ones are deleted? Would help reduce clutter and keep all the info in one place. If people get too out of hand, can always lock that thread and start a new one. It works for a lot of other sites and keeps clutter to a minimum and lets us see threads that aren't 4 of the same topic right above each other.

  • They already try to do this, sorta. If you look far enough back you will see some threads with "merged" in the title. That is their way of keeping a "master thread", the only thing that would makes this work well or better is if they were willing to pin any "master threads" that were made then unpin them once the issues/topic is resolved.

  • Then they aren't doing it enough. When I can log in each day and see 3-4 threads complaining about the same thing (that usually get locked, not merged, because people can't seem to have a civilized discussion) then its still an issue.

  • I challenge you to point out which threads are "3-4 threads complaining about the same thing"

    Go.

I agree with you that "daily" was an exaggeration. Didn't help my arguement, apologies.

But in the last week, these have all been consistantly on the front page of General, all topics related to either the alt nerf or the raid drops changed (there are more on page 2). These could all be condesed into 2 threads.

    Let's do some Akasha math!

    alt farm nerf

    Endgame Removal Update

    Is soloing viable anymore?

Downloaded the game - Can I uninstall it again?

Any serious reason to play when you reach lvl 55?

It was not meant to be

  • No, not all of those threads are on the same topic you are generalizing way to much. Out of all the threads you listed only one could have been merged with the alt farm thread for being the same. Honestly your post started out ok but now it just looks like you don't want to see people complaining about gameforge or the game. All ill say to that is get over it, general discussion is there for a reason so people can discuss all types of topics not just the good ones.

Let's do some Akasha math! - this thread was showing data on how much it takes to level up cards, the alt nerf just happened to bleed into it.

alt farm nerf - For the most part this acted as the master thread you wanted, it was the most used thread when it came to the discussion.

Endgame Removal Update - ill give you this one.

Is soloing viable anymore? - Someone asking a question, i'm not even sure why this on the list.

Downloaded the game - Can I uninstall it again? - Again didn't start solely about alt farming, but had discussion about it bleed into it that does not mean it should have been merged into the alt farm thread.

Any serious reason to play when you reach lvl 55? - this thread was made awhile back and has nothing to do with alt farming

It was not meant to be - a goodbye thread that was closed?

The only thing these threads have in common is that they had complaints in them.

  • Let's do some Akasha math! - The main arguement was that BECAUSE of the alt nerf, farming cards takes to long now. The OP made it directly related.

alt farm nerf - and if it was the only one, I'd have been fine with that.

Is soloing viable anymore - Maybe I read to much into this one, but to me, it felt like it was, again, stemming from the changes to the raids.

Downloaded the game - If this is the case and its people bringing up the topic in unrelated threads and making it about that, then maybe more warnings are needed then to keep people derailing topics with complaints.

The other two fall under the same vein, threads that ended up going off about the recent changes, either alt farming or raid drops.

You can defend the forums all you want, but its getting to the point that I don't want to direct people here for answers to questions because it feels like most of what you're hit with immediately after bringing up General is just complaints and negativity. That's a great way to chase of perspective players.

Edit: Either way though, this was meant as a suggestion for the mods/admins, not an invitation for debate. If you don't agree with me, cool. But I'm sick of logging in to these forums to a ton of negativity.

  • I think you are missing the core issue here, and it has nothing to do with merging threads. It sounds more like you want to see more moderation in general and we as users have no control over that. The mods will moderate what they feel is necessary and honestly i don't think they need to get any stricter. You don't have to beat around the bush just come out and say it "The moderators need to do a better job." .

I disagree though, i hate overly moderated forums since they can end up stifling good discussions. As for chasing players off, you can not shield new players from the fact that the community is dissatisfied. Plus anyone who wants to actually try the game will try it regardless of what people say.

I don't like saying mods need to to a "better" job since I don't think they're necessarily doing a bad job. I just think they need to be more heavy handed on the thread derailing and such.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the moderation thing though.

  • We try to merge threads when they are about the same topic, but sometimes when they are very recent, we let different discussions if they are not exactly the same.

    I can agree with this.

Fair. And its probably the fact that I joined the forums right as a major undocumented patch that made major changes was happening. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a common occurrence.
