I have read the guides, and I still don't understand. What makes a set? Names? Please just explain like I'm the dumbest person in the world

You activate the set bonus when BOTH conditions are met:
- Same type of brooch, all standard (SD) or berserker (BSK) for example.
- Same rarity, all bit (green) kilo (blue) etc.

SD set = Balanced stat
BSK set = Offense stat
FOT set = Defense stat

Like IMCF said if you place brooches of the same type (SD, BSK or FOT) on a fashion item you're equipping you will get a bonus effect that grants stats. I don't know too much about them either but what I do know is that for example if you place 3 yellow or red on shoe fashion (Mega or Giga brooches) it will give crit dmg and crit rate
The brooches can be bad ones, I don't think it matters too much as long as you get the effect :d
A fashion item has 3 slots and when placing brooches you have to have the wing brooch, the shield brooch and the moon one.
Wing goes in the top slot, shield in 2nd and moon in 3rd.
Make sure the fashion item is on your equipped section:
For some reason the effect doesnt work when its on the ''visible'' tab. you can press ''P'' and check your stats to make sure you have the effect anyway~
If you still don't understand or if I missed something make sure tell me pls
