Previously we got informations about Gameforge internally discussing about the launch of an Official Discord.
As a result I wanted to start a discussion based on what you guys think about this topic. Should GF launch an official SWO discord or not?
In my point of view it'll be a huge mistake to launch a Discord Server like that from Gameforges perspective.
It is really hard for the Staff to make sure that the server is run appropriately in the expections of the community and the staff themselves. You will have to expect to have a lot of people which, obviously, don't behave properly. The discord can easily turn into a disaster because of various factors.
Furthermore, most official community servers have many channels which can't be dealed with properly by the discord staff. Overall its really hard to find a decent spot where the discord is moderated properly.
In total I have a generally bad experience with community discords based on MMO's before.
The previously cases which happend on the Unofficial SWO Discord just strenghtened my opinion on this topic. They shouldn't be brought up as a main topic in this thread as they have nothing directly to do with the Community Discord run by Gameforge themselves. Even then you have to expect similar things to happen. It is, as already previously mentioned, a lot harder to moderate a discord server than a forum. You have to expect so many more messages per minute than posts on a forum.
I'm interested what your opinions on this subject are.
Edit: Unlike the other thread this one is about what do you think about a community server. It is not here to discuss explicitly what happend on the unofficial community server and about the question if there will be a community server!
