• Hi,

Never played overseas and had some more questions on the game. Thanks in advance.

1-Are there reputations/factions that you grind up to unlock things like cosmetics, gear, etc.?

2-Are customes/gear looks unlocked in some type of interface like a wardrobe or do you need to keep everything to be able to wear it?

3-Follow up on #2 do you have cosmetic slots or a way to make better gear look like something else easily?

4-Are there many one shot mechanics from bosses/end game things? What I mean is do high end content have ways to "execute" you if you don't do something like move to a pt, or dodge a skill etc.? One thing I don't like about end game closers is the massive amount of execute abilities from bosses end game NA.

5-Do you have enough slots for all your abilities, potions ,etc.? I ask because in Closers you run out fast and need to buy more slots on a separate bar which is annoying to me.

    Thanks!

  • 1- Dont think there are factions but there is a system that allows you to gain favor with NPCs (guide about favor)

2-There is no wardrobe, you keep costumes and accessories in a cashop inventory

3-costumes have their own slots, you cannot change the apperance or weapons or armor

    4-dont know

5-Yes you have enough slots for all your skills and you have 4 consumable slots

  • #4 : Yes, which is why you need to pay 2 win to clear raids when they first come out :)

    XD

  • Or you know.... dont be bad? :) and learn to dodge, this game is not that hard

  • ItsZee already addressed the others perfectly, but for #4:

The game does in fact have "mechanics" in more endgame content; these are certain actions or criteria that you must perform or meet, or you will most likely die. I have a capped character in Closers and I know you are referring to Tiamat and PG boss shenanigans.

I don't believe the mechanics are unfair, but they do require you to pay attention and do more than just mash buttons and deplete HP bars. They do punish you for failing to pass, but I think that is fair; it keeps things interesting and provides some type of challenge. Of course, once you've done the same gimmick to the point where its muscle memory, its not really exciting, but its definitely not a bad thing.

I also want to say that this game follows the "pay 2 get ahead" mentality, meaning your real cash is simply to save you time and effort. Free players can access the same things as paying players, but will need to put effort and time into achieving things that whales will just by throwing their wallet at the screen.

It remains to be seen how Gameforge handles things for Soulworker. I will admit they don't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to keeping things free, but I'll stay positive and reserve judgement for when the time comes.

  • What a sec. This game has p2w elements?

    My world is shattering...

I mean, you could argue that Closers does too right? Want a +11 or higher without risk? Use the free enhancement fortifiers from events! Which take time and effort to farm up the trade materials for.

Or you could throw cash at the screen and buy them from the store.

  • I know closers does...why I had hope for soulworker...I am only playing closers as a temp thin until soulworker comes out...

This news though has completely changed my thoughts...sigh...

  • Depends on what you consider P2W, the main aspect of this game afaik is the PvE, not the PvP. So if you consider Paying for Convenience P2W, then sure the game is P2W. I, personally, don't. I do wish more games with a PvP focus would give static stats per level (every lv 20 has the same stats as every other lv 20) for PvP and rely on player/character skill instead of player gear, but that's just me.

  • I don't doubt any of these pts. I agree they need to make money.

However I fall into the category that if you can buy items in a store that provide stat advantages over others it actually makes me spend zero not more...

I'm glad I asked these questions and this was talked about bc I had no idea. I thought the game didn't have this. Oh well always other games coming up...

No one said anything about buying stat advantages over other players though?

  • I'm guessing most peoples idea of P2W is different than mine.

Exp boosts, cosmetics, costumes, items that are not better than in game things, etc. are not P2w elements.

Pay 2 win means you are paying money to win the game...auto clears, stat advantages over in game to win in PvP, those things.

I am going to stop reading this thread I think people just don't understand P2W. Mods please close.

  • p2w nowadays is usually pay to advance, where you can just pay to guarantee enhances, get better gems faster, anything like that really. It doesn't really have to be pvp focused in my mind since it obviously helps in pve environments as well. <3

But I wouldn't consider auto clears and stat advantages that you can NOT get by playing free p2w, honestly I'd just call that a broken game that you shouldn't play.

  • Damn, I don't know why I didn't see this coming. Of course this game would have some "pay 2 convenience" but its fine imo. It wont stop me from having fun.
