Gameforge, can you sell Soulworker EU to NCSoft?

  • Just curious~ I find NCSoft handling things way better than gameforge, more events and even live streams of mmos like Aion and blade and soul. I love this game a lot and yes I play on the European server so give it some thoughts! NA server is yours Gameforge! Wink wink ecksdee.

    What are your thoughts?

  • I honestly don't know. SoulWorker is still a new game in Europe, and I think there are most important things to think about before the events and livestreams, like fixing bugs and all of that stuff.

After that, your option if not that bad. I don't realy have an opinion here because I didn't play a lot to NCSoft's games, so I can't compare to Gameforge. But if what you're saying is true, then it might be good for the game. But I don't know if Gameforge will hand it over so easily x)

(Sorry for my limited english, but I'm french, but I was interested to this topic :p)

    Bonjour my dear European neighbour!

Your English is really good! Très bien !

If NCsoft is going to be the publisher it will be very nice for EU! ^ ^ NCSoft gives previews of upcoming game events and content through their live streams and they are always communicating with their playerbase. Content gets updated every month. Every two weeks new outfit rotations and the prices are affordable. They even host and support pvp content and give prices every so so season. ^^

  • Gameforge's community presence is really lacking, there's never any posts anywhere about the current state of things such as when the EN server was down there was no information posted about it from Gameforge so no one knew if Gameforge knew about it or were trying to fix it.

There's also no information regarding upcoming content, no estimation of when we can expect primal, iris or even housing. We could get content tomorrow, or we could get it next year who knows.

This is also true and I feel like it is going downhill. We have twitch, streams of upcoming game content would be so nice but it doesn't seem we get that.

Game events are there so people keep playing the game and it builds more of a bond among players. For example I saw a streamer saying he quit cos he is maxed out, there is "nothing to do". See, for people like him it would be nice to have to grind for dungeons and get a nice reward from it. Have a daily lockout on doing the event for x amount of tokens -> have a bikini outfit or headpiece that players can get in two weeks time. This will close the gap of not playing the game at all.

What I also suggest is to remove the premium items being sellable, it does not give any positive effect and people who like to compete on the market are in disadvantage considering they are free to play.

Actualy yes, it would be better for Soulworker if they act in that way xD

I'm agree there, but I'll add something. Gameforge is juste responsable for the EU servers, but they aren't developping the game. So maybe the true problem is that Lion Games is restrincting the content in EU, and then even Gameforge couldn't know when it will be release. I actaly don't know if it's true, but I think it could be that way.

  • But they should also be able to obtain that information, as well as communicate with the community to provide information that the community wishes to know.

On another note how do you think gameforge should improve and if anything isn't it better to let NCsoft take over?

  • Ah look - gameforge has to discuss things with Liongames which is true, however, they paid money to buy rights and they are in the position to discuss their strategy. Liongames only provides the content, the way a publisher is gonna release it is up to them. The problem atm with Gameforge is that they aren't consistent in their updates -> in other words, they do not have an agenda of when they are going to release the next content. Don't you find it a little unprofessional from a publisher to not have a ''business model'' and show its ''year agenda'' for upcoming content? maybe it is best to just handover EU to another publisher that does put more effort and get some money out of it (this is what gameforge wants, money only - not the condition of the game).

As you say at the end, they want money. I personaly put the situation in another way.

Lion Games developed this game. It had a great succes in Asia, so they wanted to reach Europe. So they need someone to maintain the EU servers, and they choosed Gameforge mostly because they offered more money for the rights. If you put it that way, Gameforge is just recieving the informatoins they need for the instant from Lion Games. And even if Gameforge pay a lot to Lion Games, it may be worse for them because european love buying things and spend money, expecialy in a free-to-play game.

Our two point of view are correct for me, the thing is we'll never know who is in positoin to discuss.

  • I think you are better of asking if the developer transfers the right to said publisher rather then asking GF to sell something, they probably can't even sell themself.

I don't see GF considering getting rid of SW by them self until its already "dead".

  • The only positive thing from NCSOFT is the unstoppable events which makes the players get into the game everyday, but other than that.. no thanks. I don't want 10h of regular maintenance.

  • GameForge does not really mismanage the game at the moment. It is true that their communication leaves something to be desired, nevertheless, for the moment, gameforge does nothing especially negative.

It is impossible, even for NCSoft to release content for this game (if they had possession of it) for the simple reason that there isn't a lot of content on the game right now. (Korean version.)

Event rotations didn't happen right from the start, in Korea, too, right?

Besides, the forum is not conducive to this kind of discussion, at least, I think.
