I have checked the german and english CoMa posts regarding wipe and found something really interesting. Grimnir (the german CoMa) posted this on Tuesday. As most people here won't speak german I translated it:
It should be decided within the next few days whether we go for a wipe. Our team will only go for it if there's a servere technical issue. There is no wipe planned in between the final release and the beta. We prefer not going for a wipe aswell.
The real post will be attached as a proof.
Can we consider this as a confirmation that there won't be a wipe? The first few days should be over now. I wonder if the CoMa's can give us some clear information here.

In essence, that's exactly the same Grimnir said there.

If there is no wipe, there was no point in making the cash shop free in the first place.
You poor thing.
You've probably been with those savage game companies who would play their player base dirty.
Seems too good to be true yes? I thought so too. But maybe it is true.....but you have a right to remain skeptical since you don't know what they are thinking or planning with this and they have yet to tell us anything yet.
As for me though I have good faith that they won't. But if they do then it will be the death of this game, but so far it's really unlikely.
Thank you for having sympathy. I have gone through many gnarly publishers in my life time that it's hard to put trust into a lot of them, especially with a bad rep like Gameforge. I do love this game, I really do, but I was so disappointed to hear that Gameforge would be the one publishing it.
But hey, maybe they will prove themselves wrong with this game. I don't know. If they do, kudos to them.
I am still baffled as to why they would make the cash shop free without a wipe. I don't know what's in the cash shop but if there are some nice items in there, it seems a bit of an advantage to current players comparing to the future ones.

As mentioned already, once we have the final information regarding this, we will inform you (and by you I mean ALL of you in an official statement, there is no different information being spread along the DE/IT/EN etc communities). I understand that you can't wait to have this information since the beginning, but you will have to be patient until the official announcement.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you didn't get that information from Grimnir's post either. If you're translating I'd ask you to translate properly. He wrote nothing about "the first few days". What Grimnir wrote exactly in German:

Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Aura Kingdom, Black desert online JP/KR (cause those are f2p), DragonNest, MU legends, Kritika, Closers - though they had a buy in), Tree of savior (buy in beta though yet it was a beta aswell), Dragomon Hunter, Dungeon Fighter Online, Eden Eternal, Lucent Heart, Revelation Online, Ragnarok Online 2, smite, hello kitty online as far as i remember, FlyFF, Orcs must die unchained, any new ragnarok installment......
F2P use "open beta" as an excuse to have justify launch problems since ages
Soulworker has a traditional open beta that was not big announced without buy in packs for "closed" betas. They unlikely will wipe though UNLES there are major errors.
Some ppl not being able to play does not count, its still a beta and its no unfair advantage as ppl will always play later.. its PVE there is no pvp, so being ahead means nothing. They might get richer faster by selling high lvl items - yet you can do aswell afterwards and work with their prices.

I'm a bit late to this discussion but oh well! From personal experience Closed Beta always signifies a wipe while Open Beta very rarely does. However, I know for Soul Worker they actually skipped the Closed Beta phase altogether which I find very interesting. It gives me at least the impression that they wanted to get as many people into the game as possible in order to test the capacity of their servers. I can see that this game has a lot of hype surrounding it and since they said they are hoping not to wipe unless they find any serious issues I'm hoping that the cash shop having a bunch of free items may be an attempt of Game Forge establishing a sense of trust within the community. Either way, all we can do is wait and see when we receive anymore information from the staff.
Of course this is all just my opinion I'm not looking to go against anyone else and their views on the matter.
