Community Created Characters

  • We need 2 more males to balance it out. If there are more characters coming, I hope they are males.

Also, there's already a shield character which is jin with his advancement. Yes, it is not actually a "Shield" but the concept is based of that, he got the concept of one.

However, I would like to see the spear class come into play, with the usual lancer hair style. Also the caster/mage don't look bad either. Both are original and can play a role that haven't been played yet.

Here is a few things I need you to clarify with a few suggestions, keep in mind this is my opinion:

-Is he 19 or 14 when he enters the void? / I think it'd be better if he is 19 when he enters, that'd make him the eldest which would correlate with his role/

-Where's the backstory, before the void? For background, my idea would be how everything in his previous life was a simulation of the role he is fated to take. Every achievement and recognition he achieved at young age fed his ego that eventually he took pride of. Also, Usually there's a personality that stands out before falling into the void, might want to give some thought into that while working on his personality.

-His personality, I have an issue with it: You named him to be "Reckless and disobedient" because of his leadership at such young age which contradicts the responsibility and personality of a leader. Someone who is raised as a leader is the one who is the most matured and make the most rational decisions. All of his life has been a simulation of the job that he will eventually occupy. It would not be rational to give the lead of a reputable clan to someone that could turn out like that. I would recommend change his reputation.

-Addition to his personality: As I mentioned before, there is a trait that stand out in all soulworkers. As I remember, we got: Sorrow(Stella), Passion(Jin), Anger(Iris), etc. (Can't remember the other 3, I might've switched one of those though). From what I've read it seems like the most fitted one would be Pride. After all, he is a leader, he should carry the clan's pride in his shoulders. This would change the "reckless and disobedient" to "self-aggrandizement yet confident and reliable." However, that's merely my suggestion, but I do think this is best since it correlates more with his role, trait, and overall personality.

-Perhaps, change his first name? Here is my reasoning on why I think it should be changed:

For most of the characters, their names actually have a meaning and they live it up to its name:

Jin: Stands for "Gold" in Chinese.

Erwin: Stands for Handsome and fair

Haru: Means "Day" in korean, "Spring(Season) in Japanese.

    Stella: Means "Star" in Latin

    Lily: Represents Purity and Innocence.

    Iris: The "Goddess of Rainbow"

Hope this can help you. Stories well thought throughout are always a good read. Feel free to tag me or quote me if anything.

  • as for personality trademark... a source of idea could be the 7 deadly sins or the opposite of them as some of the existing class alrdy possess some of it

As much as I like this idea, the previous 6 classes do not follow that concept or pattern. Starting it would result in completing it which would be 7 additional characters which is very unlikely.

not exactly to copy the idea and implement it blindly but you can surely alrdy see traits of pride, wraith, greed and small part of gluttony in some characters' personality if you go through all their dialogue while doing quest... using the 7 deadly sins or 7 virtues as part of personality creation concept plus... since it's community creation classes, so there's more fun to it that expecting it to be really implemented

  • well, I'm just giving my personal ideas and its okay if you don't agree with me. I still think its cool to have a char that will do other thing other than just attacking

and I agree to an extend, hence the shield character. But sadly unlike other MMO's, Soulworker is also under the category of hack'n'slash. So the inability to kill things efficiently would kind of negate the fun of a character.
I still appreciate the ideas ofc ^^

  • My idea is assassins/shinobi class. I've read your character design of the spear guy adnd you said something that he can also be a kind of assassins. imo spear is not really suitable to be the assassins' class since it is mostly the class that fight on the frontline so i suggest make a separate class for assassins/shinobi.

Well thats just my opinion. what do you guys think of it?

I agree that spear class is not really suit for assassin. He is mostly a front liner, however he can be an assassin with some adjustments, I suppose.

Also, now that I think about it, I have yet to see a spear class in a game. I've seen a "Lancer" however. Same type of weapon, slightly different. Spear is smaller than a lancer providing more flexibility than a lance. A Lance is heavier than a spear, but a spear can be used for mostly anything: whether is throwing, piercing, or stabbing, you name it.

When I started reading I immediately got the picture of Lancer from Fate Series, but I guess that's not what Vitae was trying to show us(?).

I still don't get the picture of how the class would turn out game-play wise. Perhaps, Vitae can show us a video or a design that would look alike?

Actually I had it in mind when making. The lancers in the fate series I've always seen as more mobility than front liner, which is why I categorised it as assassin based class.

Well, Lancer does have mobility from Fate: UBW and any other, but because he has mobility it doesn't make him an assassin. if that's the case we could argue that someone with a greatsword could be considered one. An assassin is someone who is skilled with stealth abilities and generally eliminates their enemy in a quick, quiet manner. Assassins do not engage in protracted melee. Usually they are considered "Ninjas."

    Here is more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(character_class)

Here is a good example of how a lancer typically fights(Fate Series: UBW Spoilers):

You could consider Archer to be an assassin however. He used his agility as an advantage and tries to find an opening unlike lancer who is constantly rushing forward recklessly and forces his way in.

Any class who is involved in protracted melee is and should be considered a frontliner. Classes who stay back and support the team are considered Support/Healers. Classes who *prefer* not engage combat directly and relies on stealth abilities are considered assassins; however, in certain situation they can engage combat directly because they belong to the Rogue tree after all.

I'm not quite sure how an assassin would play out in Soul worker, but considering the stats an assassin would have would be: quick low damage alone, but with poison/fire/curse they can catch up overtime and quick but weak defense. In the other hand, a Lancer would be the same as Lily but with some haru mix in. Haru's mobility and lily's type of skills: Medium-high damage at a normal pace and medium defense. Also lets not forget a lancer have a long, heavy weapon.

There was actually a game I played that had a good representation of what a Lancer is, it was pretty cool. It is hard to find though because it was not really a class but an enemy. Other than that, I don't know any game that has a lancer as class as of yet, I'll look something up though.
