Did NA server just die?

  • It's been 14 hours now and I still can't log into my char, :(

Given an entire region is affected by this, I would've expected some sort of communication from GameForge on this issue by now, even if it's just to say they're looking into this …

I agree. It feels like they dont even care. It feels like they're liking all the negative attention they're having

They're a German company, the regular work day would have been over by the time this started, usually for a company, only the regular staff will post on the forums, and such, so they'd have been gone, and only started to get to work about now. This is also I believe the only NA server they're running for any of their games, and this whole thing is showing that it's probably not a good idea for them to try to run a NA server, or that they need to change things up drastically, as this kind of nonsense, plus the regular issue of it not showing any characters when I go to the character selection screen at times, keeps happening.

Just a little while ago they posted to the most active forum thread on the matter over on the Steam forums, which had just shy of 50 posts. They claimed the matter had now been resolved, but as people there pointed out, it hasn't been fixed, and I just checked about a moment ago as well to confirm.

  • Fair point but the fact that they said it's fixed even tho it aint just makes u question stuff

Which brings us back to my earlier point that this whole ongoing matter shows that it's probably not a good idea for them to try to run a NA server, or that they need to change things up drastically. I also now know what all those European players were talking about in other games I've played when they'd complained about communication issues, and such when playing a game hosted by a NA company, with EU servers, when there were problems.

It's 10:20am there now. Still no communication here in their official forums.

Well actually, there is one made about fifteen minutes ago, announcing an unscheduled maintenance, that will be starting right about now. So yay I guess, too bad I'm going to bed now though.

I had deleted my post cause I didn't want to argue with you but you still had to argue with me.

Fine. They should have said something at 9am for something that already affected the entire region for 14 hours as soon as they came in. Not waited till 10am. So much for your excuses.

  • well if my post had been enabled you would all know that they tweeted about 9 mins ago
stating that maint. to get the server for NA back up would start at 10:30am which was 4 mins ago.
See you all online if you're still wanting to play! (patience is key) <3

We already know from the announcement section. But I think we're already pretty patient since we waited 14 hours without service.

  • And I didn't see that you deleted it, till I made my post, or else I wouldn't have been able to quote you. Although it's not an argument, it's a statement. I'd figure it took a while to get a grasp of what was going on, and figure out what they'd need to do. Then I again point out that now I see what "all those European players were talking about in other games I've played when they'd complained about communication issues, and such when playing a game hosted by a NA company, with EU servers, when there were problems." It is a rather significant timezone difference.

  • Even with the time zone difference, the fact remains an entire region is out of service for 14 hours so they should've made some sort of communication as soon as they came in at 9am their time (like tell us they're looking into it) which was around the time I made that comment. So your timezone difference argument is no excuse.

  • what they need is a game master working shift in each server

Yeah, if they're gonna support NA, then they should actually have someone to support us during NA hours and not just take our money. They are already on EU hours, so they just need to assign one of their employees to monitor things from home during NA hours, even for just a couple hours, especially after a maintenance.

As I've repeatedly said, this sort of thing you're complaining about, is exactly the same sort of thing European players have had to put up with for years in other games, when they too have had EU servers. As the company prioritized, and was based in North America, European players would complain about regular maintenance times at the worst possible times for them, such as around the early evening, or such, so that especially when there was a long extended maintenance, they may not have had any chance to log in at all. Then when there were server problems, they'd deal with the same sort of long waits for a fix, with no communication, and so forth we have here.

You're basically expecting the company to have 24/7 staff on hand to monitor things, talk on the forums, and so forth, I doubt there's any online game company that does that now. Especially since the move to free to play everything, companies have really dialed back on the service staff. Years back when everything was pay to play, if I had a problem, rather than sending a ticket, and waiting for however many hours, to days for a response, I could contact a GM in-game at pretty much any time, in some cases it could take hours, as it was an off time, other cases it could take minutes, but those days are long gone now.

You're used to being the targeted, and prioritized region, here it's more split, we're not as bad off as some in other games have been for some people, as maintenance times are reasonable for us, but their staff hours aren't that great for us. This as I've said I believe is the only game they're currently hosting with a NA server for, usually staff gets split between the games of a company, so expecting staff on hand to cater to the NA players, would mean staff on hand solely for the sake of the NA players of just this game. With the other game I mentioned they're suppose to be taking over for, it seems that how much direct involvement GF may have in maintenance may be limited, as while the game currently is in limbo regarding having a publisher (its devs dropped the prior one, or the like, as it was doing some BS on Steam with review manipulation, which got it kicked off Steam from what I hear), the game is still active, being updated, and so forth. That means NA players of that game may not have the kind of issues we are, since GF, or some secondary company is handling the game servers here, while the devs of that game sound like they're handling that stuff themselves. While as I said, they really need to get things sorted out with the SW NA server, as it's the only one facing these continual issues, one does still need to be at least somewhat reasonable here.

Dumbest post ever. I literally said (see in BOLD) :

Does assigning one of their employees to monitor things from home for just a couple hours during NA hours equate to having 24/7 staff? Do you even read or do you just argue for the sake of arguing?

So yes, if they're gonna support NA, then they should actually have some sort of support for us during NA hours. That way players don't have to wait 16 hours to get service back when something goes wrong.

And LMAO at your wall of text.
