Display MoreIf you think someone talking a different language is enough to put a IpBlock then yeah, it is selfish. Besides, putting a IpBlock when the game didn't have one on the beginning will not resolve the "problem of people talking different languages" or any other problem. It will only get worse.
Sorry but I'm going to clear this.
Looking from outside while you don't understand the language you can think "Nah it's fine, it's just the words". But it's not.
Take Vietnamese as an example here. Some people actually used bad words on mega. And public chatting as well. We who can understand the language are annoyed by those words. As far as I know, some players from other regions were actually annoyed by it as well.
What makes it worse is the fact that they used mega for pointless purpose: Once the game is officially released, imagine your mega selling something being dragged up for NO REASON AT ALL. Now THAT is a problem.
Among the community, we don't use Vietnamese for public chatting, nor that we do use it for mega. We either use English or just shut up and let somebody translate all the stuff we need. Sadly, part of the community is just pure trash- they like spamming bad words in Vietnamese in public as if it helps them prove something, and we can't do anything about it.
As much as we hate it, we need to admit, we'd rather see our country's IP getting blocked than let the player base have a bad look on us- this actually IS happening right now among the Elsword community, many of them hate us because of the pointless mega spamming (and the lag as well).
So yeah, "speaking other language" might be a reason that leads to IP block.
Certainly not the reason for the ip block. I can assure you that 100%. It might be their marketing team just realized they just want to focus on NA and EU markets and their player base while shutting down ROW.
