Im new to SW. Just a question on how to use the "active (yellow)" akasha cards once I've put them in the slot.

I know the passive run automatically. But I do not know how to make the "active" one work. There are numbers beneath them. 1-5. They are the same keys I use for my skills. Any help or hint would be greatly appreaciated!! Thanks!!
