The post was very short, so why to cut the only part that is inconvenient for you?

Because I was only responding to that part of it, obviously. But if you want my opinion so bad on the later part no bank share with partial data transfer would be just as bad as bank share without partial data transfer. Like which char gets to keep the best cards/brooches/etc? That decision would be yikes.

I just don't see partial data transfer and bank share as either being more important than the other. They should both be priority.

Why don't you talk with your friend and ask him to do a video with bankshare as the main topic?

I'll mention this idea to him but since you and I both agree that we can only speculate about bank share I'm not sure he's going to want to make an entire video where the main topic is fighting against something we can only (reasonably) assume based on LG's TW relaunch. Much more productive to focus on what we do know about LG announcing that they plan to screw the former player-base.

    DoAhSTZ.png

So if data is transfered and we have no bank share where will go the bank if we have full it ?

Ya this is likely a factor in why LG doesn't want to do data transfer. There are solutions such as making the bank go to the first char slot or giving players a chance to pull items out of the bank onto each of their chars (pretty much however they want to distribute their items before getting locked out of bank share) but coming up with a solution to help old players clearly is not part of their agenda.

LG rather just advertise to a new wave of players riding the anime action genre hype who have no clue how much of a QoL improvement it is to share the bank (and also didn't just have their gear stolen). They're also rubbing their hands at the idea that instead of whales rolling for gear that can be transferred between chars whales will instead have to roll all these items per character. It sounds like brilliant marketing until the realization that it causes most players to quit sooner than later because the vast majority do not want to start over just to play another class.

Also explains why JP has slowly died too. As Henryk mentioned new players don't care about bank share until they hit end game and wanna try playing a different class. The inability to share any of your dz or gear to help fund another char is frustrating enough that it's easier to just stop playing or only hop on for certain events if ever again. The fact that LG is removing bank share from their reboot servers is just another example of A) LG's incompetence and a total lack of understanding of the player base or B) a marketing decision meant to milk players to a certain point before they quit but most likely C) both A & B.

At this point it kinda just seems like cash grabs from every angle with no intention of trying to keep players around anywhere. The only reason KR does ok even with all the controversy is that they're the first to get new content.

One neat little thing with the TW reboot is that it appears to be fully Steam, meaning we can get an even better idea of player count than the GF servers could ever provide (since GF had launcher as well and that's not counted by Steam). Only 4 months in and TW is already down to ~28% of the peak:

    pasted-from-clipboard.png

It's performing quite similar to the GF launch (but the all-time peak is actually lower than GF and that's only the numbers counted by steam). Uh oh.

If there is not bankshare then this version is closing even before it open.

There is no proof that we will not have bankshare

Ya and sure, there isn't 'proof' but it's not unreasonable to think they're going to follow the same launch plan they did with TW last year, same code base etc, just different localization. But yes to be fair it is indeed speculation.

Ya tbh everything sasame just said is probably quite accurate.

I don't see why LG would reboot the GF server any different from how they rebooted TW. They already went through a launch and have a code base that only needs localization done. So to keep updates as quick and bug free as possible they won't want multiple different code bases to maintain (besides, they already learned their lesson trying to do this in the past). This means it will probably be another copy+paste JP like the TW reboot is (which yes LOST bank share on the reboot). Sure this is speculation but there's solid reasoning behind it.

It's also pretty clear that the new server is going to be targeting a new wave of players. Ya some old players will return but from what I understand of TW, the entire community fractured and while some started over, many never returned (I know because we had some TW refugees in our NA guild over the summer pre-TW-shutdown that have kept in touch and reported what happened on the new server). With games like Genshin Impact stirring up hype for anime action games there's certainly a growing customer pool for LG to tap into. This is what they're counting on. It's also why they don't care about us and have no problem backstabbing those who were supporting their western release these past few years. It's the path of least effort, most money, and anyone suggesting a company wouldn't be making decisions this way lives in a fantasy land.

So ya, the cards are stacked against us for sure. That's why I think the only possible way of ever achieving some data transfer would be rage mob tactics and content creators. As also mentioned LG almost failed a couple years back and was practically saved by luck. A fragile company like this could very well fear harming their image if they see enough upset over what they're trying to do and eventually give in. And if they don't give in and their launch is harmed... so what? They clearly don't care about us so why should we care if it brings this entire thing down?

    It's only fair.

And maybe you could have done this to save this version of the game, but you did not

You have no idea of my involvement outside of these forums (and any basic search of my post history within the forums will show how critical I've been of GF) so stop lying about this. Last time I'm going to correct you on this blatant lie.

EDIT: Instead of replying to you again I'll write it here- Out of basic common sense I will not disclose to you who or where my other social media accounts are. Nice try.

BTW good news! I talked to my content creator friend and he seems to like the idea. Suggested he'll do it in ES with EN subs. No timeline yet and I really don't want to put any pressure on him but he agrees we should have some videos to post on LG social media moving forward. Once we get the ball rolling should be able to get others to hop on board.

If this really go to content creators that listen to these guys then the new version will not have a great start.

You still have totally failed to explain how ONLY brooch and akasha transfer would ruin the launch. Again, there will be whales who acquire almost all of these things within the first few days so it will have little impact overall on the new player experience or launch as a whole.

Also thanks for admitting what you fear the most. Sounds like getting content creators involved may be the most effective way to proceed.

    let's do it!

Ya content creator involvement should be one of our primary goals right now.

BTW I'm friends with one who's quite influential in the Spanish speaking community. We ran ranking together so he has gear and therefor some incentive to get involved. Will reach out.

Since this is going to be the top of the page I'd like to review some of what's being discussed for a solution:

-Only brooch and akasha transfer allowed but everything else scrapped. It would solve the issue of exploited dz and ECs making it onto the new server but should give old dedicated players enough reason to wanna come back. It would not cause any unfair gear imbalances because right at the start you'll see whales rolling all the brooches/akasha anyway. It really does seem like the perfect compromise as any reasonable person in this thread agrees that a full data transfer would have downsides.

-Soulbound outfits could also be a thing but for the sake of being reasonable I would be against this. Why? You can always rebuy your fashion directly without rng so LG could still make at least some profit from old players at launch. This way old players won't look like total dead weight to LG.

As to how we get this:

Social media campaign. Seek out the most public LG social media venue and aggressively present the solution. If enough people seem upset, LG may fear their image harmed before even relaunching the server and try to make right on this.

We will also want to see if we can get gaming journalists and youtube influencers to hop on board. An example of which is this guy who even states early in the video that it makes no sense for LG to not provide any transfer. He's approaching 25k views already:

Will edit this post as suggestions are made. Also I really suggest not engaging the couple trolls in this thread trying to steer the topic away from solutions and towards in-fighting (and have now resorted to outright spamming). That only fills these pages with text that no third party will read. A long time rule of the internet is "do not feed the trolls".

    One more quick thought:

We may be able to reach out to some influencers, either Youtube or gaming journalists to produce some content/articles crucifying LG for showing absolutely 0 consideration for their former player base in this cash grab. I know there's been at least 1 video done on this and it's close to 25k views:

If LG fears a negative image before they even launch their new server they may at least consider some consolation but who knows?

And with the same question i ask you: did you forget that company can do what they want with THEIR game?

You keep suggesting people are claiming things that they are not. Nobody in this thread is saying that LG can't screw the former player base if they want. Literally nobody is questioning that and even suggesting it is ridiculous.

I give up, it's useless to talk with them.

Great, now can we please get back to discussing the thread topic without your continued interruption?

What's the most public LG social media outlet right now? Might be a good place to start our campaign.

If you transfer only brooches and akashas, stop bringing up "balance" as it's a bad argument; a whale can literally spend thousands on first day and get them. Does that whale ruin the game for others? No. The only argument here against brooch/akasha transfer is an obvious cash grab. And a sorry one at that, making LG just as bad as GF wanting short term profits only.

Exactly. He has no solid argument against this and thinks writing essay after essay somehow validates his poor reasoning. It's probably best not to engage with him anymore because he keeps repeating the same debunked talking points.

A brooch/akasha transfer only would be the perfect compromise and as you pointed out a whale could roll all of these in a day if they wanted (and some probably will) so 'balance' or 'fairness' IS NOT A VALID REASON AT ALL.

This is also why I'm assuming it's LG preventing it because these are money making items, especially upon server launch when none are listed on the market yet. It's a cash grab and trying to excuse that because GF had 'the wheel' just reeks of double standards like Henryk pointed out.

Where are all those people to confirm your words then?

Oh they exist... he hears them in his head.

The whole Gameforge demanding Lion Games to pay money for the data is speculation. Is it possible? Yes but it has no basis for argumentation. It is the same problem with claiming Lion Games is just being greedy. Neither stance have any evidence. It is creating and expanding on non-existent problems. In both arguments, it simply is relying on the assumption either Gameforge or Lion Games is unwilling to transfer. Which yes clearly someone don't want to transfer our data.

There's also the implied argument being made that sticking it out with LG's terrible choice of publisher was somehow ONLY supporting said publisher. It wasn't. It was also supporting LG as well. They WERE getting a cut of the profit so to paint them as some kind of innocent little angel is absurd. It's not like they had 0 control, and they also could have ended the contract previous years but clearly they were satisfied enough to keep with GF for three.

The idea that it's so black and white that guilt between LG and GF is some mutually exclusive thing is just wrong. Both parties have messed up, obviously Gameforge was the worst but it doesn't exonerate the other and using speculation to 100% pin guilt either way isn't very productive nor would it be true. This also isn't the thread for that.

Which while possible, is precisely why this topic and several others are created. To change the decision of the party responsible.

Right, that's what we should be discussing but good luck keeping people (whom appear to have some vendetta against the former player base) from derailing the thread with a ridiculous blame game. It's almost like the derailment is intentional so that a solution isn't found :/

As to how we should proceed I'm still on the side of needing to blast their social media. As much as I hate the concept, outrage mobs work. It's the only thing that EVER gets companies to budge (some may remember Bethesda tried to setup a mod market place for Skyrim where they would get a huge cut off of other people's creations and were bullied into taking it down within a week). There won't be some magical 'change of heart' if a few people are sad. They need to feel the heat and that upsetting their original western player base may ultimately cause them damage. And before anyone makes some snarky comment about "ya how you gonna do that?" I'm not really sure and the chance of results seems low. Sadly it's probably the best chance we have. Any bitcoin millionaires wanna fund an Indonesian troll farm for a few months? ;)

There's one other idea I heard kicking around but can't verify the facts nor understand what the next step would be. Might as well put it out there anyway:

Users file GDPR requests to GF for their data. Apparently if they don't provide it on request they could face fines in the millions according to EU law (again I haven't been able to verify this). If a whole bunch of people do this it could put a sqeeze on GF and if you're someone who thinks GF is keeping the data hostage this may be a way to get it out of them. Where to proceed from there I don't know but it seems like an angle maybe worth probing.

Stop giving philosophy lessons. All agree that data transfer is possible. But not everyone understands why we are denied this. So 1 - our player base is not so big that they would make concessions to us .... there are no whales here either. 2 - different versions of the client ... when adding new content, the script lines are shifted, new IDs of objects and objects are added

... that some things may become different when migrated, or there may be errors in the migration. (no one will do this manually ... the same thing happens with other games where the old saves no longer work in new versions) 3 - LG did not plan to develop the game through GF ...

they just gave a small advertisement for the audience while they themselves were gradually preparing to open their server (this is beneficial in terms of profit without intermediaries). 4 - players who like the game will still play it even from scratch ... in the new version there will be so much relief in the gameplay ... when the server opens, I'm sure that,

there will also be complaints from disgruntled players on the forum. To summarize: Want to transfer your data, buy a private server to transfer .... suggest LG to launch a paid data transfer service ... they will gladly refuse you.

Wow that's a lot of poor excuses to obfuscate a lie.

Lion Games? More like Lying Games :D :D :D

What I meant was perma. I've been temp banned as well. :D

Excuse me? I've never defended GF on here. In fact I'm surprised I was never banned for some of the nasty things I said about them. You need to pay attention instead of staying hung up on some comment I made about it being nice if GF managed to maintain the faster pace of updates they had over the summer. You're literally so fixated on this you can't see we've been on the same team all along.

Literally nobody in this thread is defending Gameforge. In fact it's pretty safe to assume the people upset about LG refusing any data transfers are actually ecstatic to see GF lose the contract. People who would otherwise be very happy to continue playing and support LG are being told if they want to do so they have to start all over. THAT is why people are upset. Not because of some kind of imagined love for GF. Very dishonest to try and misrepresent this.

I appreciate the effort of the original post and I fully agree there are (rather simple) solutions to the problem, especially doing things like some item transfer but not everything.

That said, you're making a fatal mistake in looking for solutions: LG doesn't want solutions.

This is 100% due to marketing. I already outlined the explanation here: New database

The TLDR; is if there are already players who have stuff at launch, a certain group of day 1 mega whales who like to race for the top spot won't even bother because they'll first have to whale to catch-up. They don't want to play catch-up first, they want their money to immediately put them ahead, so they'll just wait for a different game with a true fresh launch to jump on instead.

That's all this is about; making whales compete so LG can maximize profit at launch.

Everything else is a lie or half-truth.

After what LG wrote on their Facebook page, I'm fairly certain that they are the ones who decided not to transfer the user data. I don't think that trying to convince Gameforge of a data transfer will result in anything. LG are the ones blocking them and what should Gameforge's interest be to convince LG otherwise? There is no incentive for them. Also, since they are used to migrating account data from other publishers, I'm certain that performing a migration would not have been too difficult for them and that it is indeed LG who is blocking the migration (and as I said before - LG said so themselves).

Yes. There are actually people on the forums/discord trying to convince others that this is all Gameforge's fault but it's pretty clear from what LG wrote that they're the ones who are making this decision and hoping people are gullible enough to believe the GDPR excuse or whatever else they come up with.

Either way it seems to speak to the submissive nature of a good chunk of the SW playerbase :D

Not worth calling them out directly but even in this thread there was someone roughly saying "You've put up with worse why not put up with this too?" and being totally serious about it.

    Learn to have some self-respect.

One last point: The only way you will get anything out of LG is not through appealing to them with reason or emotion. They need to basically be scared that failure to give at least some compensation to GF players would harm their profit. I'm sure they've already weighed the pros/cons but decided they rather launch as attractive as possible for those day 1 mega whales. So really the only solution is a major social media campaign to shake things up. That said the likelihood of success is low.
