Display MoreDisplay MoreThis thread has sure gotten large but that is to no one surprise.
For those of you arguing against the idea, let me ask you: What are you losing or gaining from this? If you don't like the idea then why are you here or better yet why don't offer a better alternative? These kinds of arguments are pointless since they don't offer any constructive criticism.
Now let me get to the real reason: Money. I think this is self-explanatory. It has also already been mentioned. let the new and old players give them even more money. They might also want to have a "fresh start." How and what exactly? By rebranding the game (which they are already doing). This will allow them to re-introduce the game with "new" ideas and concepts(meaning they don't want attachments to the old one). Rebranding can result in an increase in sales. Kritika, for example, increased its sales for the first few months when it rebranded itself in steam.
if you want to know why this might be the case you can read here:
I know you guys are bitter about this and consider them selfish pricks for doing this, but let me reveal some relevant background: I don't know how long any of you have been following LiG, but they really have a bad history when it comes to financial stability. They once were running the game under debt and racked up a lot of debt during the meanwhile, but whether that debt is gone or not is something I don't know. I do know that they were able to raise a lot of money due to Closers drama(artist/feminism drama), gameforge's contract(Gameforge bought the game's rights and paid them royalties), and publishing (Gained traction).
but don't be surprised. This isn't the first time they have pulled greedy moves like this. In fact, the drama that happened back in December of last year was exactly because of their greed:
1) Release a hard dungeon, give shit drop rates and sell tickets for real money. Tell them the rate has been risen but still pretty hard to get. Basically:
Buy tickets -> shitty drop rates -> players complain -> they "increase" drop rate -> players buy tickets -> still shitty drop rate -> players complain.
It's greedy and disgusting, but it is a business. They will do what they need to do to remain afloat and achieve their goals.
I read some of you don't care about ruining their image, well you are in luck. They are not in a good situation right now. You just gotta go to the right places and say the right things to accomplish your goal. The fire has already been lit just gotta fuel it. so yea the cards aren't completely stacked against you
I could also mention how broken the economy is and how much of a factor it poses to data transfer, but I highly doubt that LiG knows the state of the game, let alone the economy(so what's the point anyways?).
Regardless, I would highly suggest a change of plan since they barely gain anything from doing this(a few players quitting ain't gonna cut it). I believe there can be a compromise though. Maybe instead of transferring data, they could give old players a code that has selective 5*star AR and selective tera brooches.
Also, whether there's a change of plans or not, you gotta stick with it. As soon as the game releases you gotta go to steam forums and get right on their faces. Afterall, you should be talking to them directly and won't have go through publishers like before (if my understanding is right).
there is also the fact that there are barely any people that will get behind this
tl;dr: having gfsw players retain their items equals losses to them and that's a big no-no for them. If they don't seem to change their mind(likely). A change of plan might be needed to reach a compromise where both sides gain something.
I had discussions with some other people and they also believe putting pressure through social media or something more direct would be more useful. But the question is... how? I don't know of any direct NA/EU community to LG communication. This barrier makes it hard to make our voices heard.
There are ways.
One of these ways is to send a good amount of emails to ask for a way to communicate with them (a forum, a discord server, a dedicated facebook page).
Use a vpn to write in the steam page for TWSW, it's self published so i think they watch it?
A massive complain via comments in their official post, we will need to comment almost at the same time asking for the same thing.
We can coordinate in a dedicated discord server.
I gave you the idea and i espect just one thing in return. Don't use what i wrote above to make demands about data transfer or something of the sort.
OUR PRIORITY IS TO HAVE A DIRECT WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEM.
And then after that we can make our demands.
