I think what we are seeing here is a basic failure in terms of setting expectation the event and messaging. A open beta is generally regarded by the general public as the last stage in a testing regime, where most of the major issues have been ironed out. That's clearly not the case here and has impacted the way the gernal public has approached this open beta.

That also tails into the way that the open beta was pushed out with no forward messaging, and therefore no opportunity for the community team to set any expectations. In essence it's kind of reasonable to find players complaining.

Anyhow off topic a bit, I'd still love a name reservation ssytem so when and if we get the game pushed out with zero warning again I don't have to remote into my desktop from a phone on a train to try to grab a handle :)

only got a passing minute on this but fatigue systems aren't inherently good or bad it just depends if they are used as an excuse to push players up to a fremium account model. It's a tool and it's often misused so here's hoping that balance is reached :)

Fatigue is an inherent system to gate progression, nothing more. For most games, they use it to limit gameplay as a way to reduce costs by forcing people offline. For others, they use it as a way to push sales of premium currency to get you to buy more or to speed up progress.

I don't think we are on entirely different pages here to be honest. Gating happens in lots of games and are a tool to direct players. So yeah they are used like this, whether the tool is a bad thing is another discussion as opposed to how it's being used I suppose

I loved wildstar, it had so much potential and in some ways was amazing. In others, it was just a mess.

Housing was off the chart good, raiding and pve was great, the find was real yes but combat was on point.... PvP though (my main focus at the time) was just... I don't have enough pages to go into that. Couple it with the easy content was handled.

You know I'll dig up some interesting blogs about the game and it's issues if I can find them tomorrow. Also I still have loads of these left... And a rare wildstar postcard book somewhere

welcome to the forums, while I'll be skulking about the EU servers I'm sure you'll end up building great memories witht he community

Your first reall MMO is always going to be here right? It's the one I spent years playing, ran my first guild in, and made some of my best online friends. We farmed, we fought, we ran at the head of 400 person server raids. IIt was all about the experiences and frankyl it wasn't a half bad wee game either :D

    Guild Wars 2

I played (and still) play it for years. I again have friends and a string of unfortunate developers who have had to suffer my wittering for hours on end. It ws innovative in it's time and still provides a deep, engaging narrative. That and again I have so many memories of it. I would be more specific but then I'd just write pages ;)

Literally the last thing I just did was grab a cheap MMO mouse for the other half / for review. Looks like a variant on the utechsmart venus 500 but... newly inserted into a UK manufacturers product line so I figured at twenty quid what's the harm in ordering and seeing how it goes

So there's the crux of it right there. Putting aside technical considerations, mmorpg on mobile platforms are generally an Eastern phenomenon. Let's frame this by saying I consider the switch a mobile gaming platform. I use mine as such and have no reason to plug it into the TV at home.

While NC Soft saw huge numbers of their lineage 2 base move to lineage 2 revolutions, this isn't really panning out the same in western markets. It's a good example of how the concept isn't really breaking through and a switch mmo would inevitably suffer the same barrier to the market. It's just not how mmo players are used to operating and that's not even codifying the technical reasons.

Granted is an interesting idea but I doubt we'd see it.

Aw jeez the weekly, "post your contributions with a screenshot thread" I used to have to do years ago, back when I had time to run a guild.... That still gives me nightmares

I do not envy you in this regard
